Editorial review from Citysearch 8/30/2013

The Thai House used to get my 5 star rating and was one of our family's favorite places to go. Unfortunately, the new management has let their standards slip. A young kid seems to run things on the floor and he is incompetent. Last time I was there, I made an order but received the wring dish. When I asked for the right dish, a person who could hardly speak English refused. So I asked another waiter and the second time they brought out the wrong dish. So tonight I called up to make sure that I would receive the right dish. The young kid answered and told me that he could not guarantee that I would get what I asked for... This is appalling and I will never go there again, at least until the management changes. more

Our Favorite Thai 9/19/2011

Thai House has been our favorite Thai restaurant and in our top three or four of any restaurant since its beginnings as Vientiane Gardens. It has gone through several owners and cooks. The first cook was outstanding and she left her legacy for those that followed. It is small and family run. Take out and delivery can affect quality of service and wait times. Ya want darn fine Thai? You may have to wait a bit from time to time. Ya want fast and efficient? Try (edited 'cause I'm a nice guy) down the street. In the 50 - 60 times we have eaten there we have had two incorrect orders - ordered "medium" Phad Thai and got "Thai hot" on a recent New Years Eve and something other than what we ordered during its first year. They do listen and improve. Skimpy veggies? Not any more. Enjoy, I know we will. more

not a fan 11/15/2010

nothing in this place is fresh. almost everything is too sweet and also not enough vegetable. I just don't get it why every single veggie dish has to have bamboo shoots. I had one order of egg rolls, it smells so fishy (is it supposed to be like that??). One of the dishes that we ordered that had chicken in there, chicken smells so bad. The waiter (fat, asian guy) doesn't know what he's doing? looks like he wants to do 10 things at one time. the result? he forgot everything that I asked for and that happened with the table next to us too. I'm Thai and I'm not impressed with the food at all. This is gonna be my first and last time eating there. I over heard the manager scream at one of her workers for not working fast enough, there was nobody esle to wait on its not like it was extremly busy and besides i was watching her work her a** off. there was no reason for her to be yelled at more

Stunned and appaled 2/5/2010

We'd been going here for a while despite the lackluster service. Every single time we ate here something went wrong. One time they didn't bring us rice for the curry, another time or meals arrived at wildly different time, and yet another no one came back after delivering our meals and we had to go find someone to pay our bill. We gave up on eating in and stuck with take-out and delivery. It became a running joke - what did they forget this time? Maybe the wontons were missing. Maybe they messed up our credit card number over the phone, requiring cash when delivery showed up. We kept coming back because we really enjoyed the curry and it was nice and cheap. I'll never, ever go back there after last night. I called in a take-out order at 5:20. Around 6 my husband went to pick it up and was told they had no record of our order. He exchanged some choice words with the manager and left angry. I called back to try and figure out what had happened. I have the call record on my phone and I didn't understand how they could have no record of me or why they didn't at least offer to make us some food. Apparently they don't want our business anymore. I don't know that I've ever been so unhappy with any establishment as I am with them right now. Pros: food Cons: service more

One of our all time favorite places! 1/14/2010

My husband and I LOVE the Thai House. I think they have the best green and red curry, and for something different...the pumpkin curry. Sometimes the staff is a little iffy, but the owner is very nice and professional. more

Inconsistent 7/8/2009

The quality of food and service is completely inconsistent. At times we have enjoyed our food very much. Other times we have waited absurd amounts of time for our food. Our most recent experience included an overly sweet curry. I was only able to eat half of it - after a few minutes I felt like I was eating dessert. We gave them many chances, but we are now looking for a better place. more

Love their Red Curry 3/18/2009

Fast service, in and out in less than 10 minutes. I ordered Red Curry, it was good. they added fried Tofu which ads calories but was good. Pros: Curry is perfect, not to hot and has a sweetness to it Cons: not enough vegetables, i would have prefered to have eggplan more

The food is awesome- but it is family run.. 9/15/2008

This is the best Thai in Denver- their panang curry is to die for. And their peanut sauce is excellent. Moving from CA I was dissapointed in all the generic thai that existed- nothing had flavor. You can choose your spicy level so let them know! Also they use all white meat chicken- no funky pieces to pick through. If you are looking for generic Thai this is NOT the place for you. The new location has less seats than the old location and service can be excellent or lacking. It is family run, so it isnt run like a chain- be patient and you will be impressed! The awards are there for a reason! Pros: Food Cons: service more

Unimpressed, despite the show of awards on their walls 9/8/2008

When I got to the restaurant, I waited to be seated by the one waitress on duty who questioned, "By yourself?" I guess maybe I was a little sensitive, but honestly, I felt judged in a not so good way for attempting to eat alone. Anyway, I was brought to a dirty booth, and though she thought a minute to seat me at another one, she ended up deciding to just wipe off the table in the corner behind the dirty aquarium. She didn't dry the table, however; so, my dinner napkin was sopping, and I couldn't put the book I had brought on the table for fear the pages face the same fate. I ordered the red curry with pumpkin thinking that it was a rare find on a menu. It was all right. The dish didn't seem different from other red curry I've had save for one bite of what I could make out to be pumpkin. The restaurant wasn't super busy, but the waitress was taking time to eat her own meal in between checking on me and the other four tables. I had to get up to ask for a to-go box and the check. I'd rather eat at Thai Flavor, with it's cheesier decor and friendlier service. Pros: Unprofessional waitress Cons: menu with pumpkin curry more

They should outlaw sugar in Thai food 7/29/2008

I don't how is it in Thailand but this is one thing that diminishes the taste. This place was ok. The Thai figurines and pictures in the wall look nice but nothing out of the ordinary. The food was good priced. The flavors were all there but the sugar? I don't know if they'retrying to mask the spiciness or what but I hated it. The tom yang goon (sp?) soup was there with the taste but the sugar ruined it. The fish was there with the taste but the sugar ruined it. I've had it before without the sugar in other thai places so don't tell me it cannot be done. There's a lot of potential here. Pros: price, taste is there + sugar Cons: sweet flavor. more

Not impressed 12/10/2007

We went to Thai House because of the reviews that we read on Citysearch and that it was voted best Thai food 2006. Well, we were not impressed. We got there and waited a while, but never got waters or menus, and had to get our own menus. We then waited for at least 10 minutes just to get our orders/waters. We were there for almost an hour before we even got our entrees. We didn't think the food was that great either. Overall, our experience was not pleasant and we would not go back there again. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service more

Best Thai Food in Denver 6/3/2007

The ambience is nicer in the new location, although to be honest we hate that our little secret is out now and we have to share it with everyone else. Staff is always friendly, prices can't be beat, and the food is amazing. We've eaten Thai food all over the U.S., and this is simply the best we've had. Nobody makes a better Panang curry, period. Save some room for the mango & sticky rice dessert. Enjoy! more

Nice new location!! 5/22/2007

They're in a new place at 80th x Sheridan, next to Subway on the NorthWest corner. It's a very nice new location. Not funky at all. I've eaten at the new location once. The service was quick and friendly. My friend who is a connoisseur of Thai food gave them the Thumbs Up! Pros: easy parking, easy access from hwy 36 sheridan exit, sunny, nice ambience, great food Cons: nothing else interesting in this neighborhood unless you need something at king soopers... more

Best in Denver 2/10/2007

I am a Thai junky. I've eaten Thai food from Frankfurt, Germany to Orange County, CA and a lot of places in-between. The long-awaited good press for this place is right on - Thai House counts as one of the best, and is the best I've had in Denver. I love the red curry, though they tend to make it milder than most - I order it "medium-hot" and it's just about right. Their Tom Yum Goong can't be beaten anywhere! NOTE: THEY ARE CURRENTLY MOVING THEIR LOCATION just up the street to 84th and Sheridan, so call ahead and see if they've opened yet before going. Pros: Food, value, service Cons: None. (They're out of the old strip mall!) more

Best and Most Authentic Thai Food near Denver 12/23/2006

Yes, it's located in a yucky strip mall. The ambience is also lacking. However, the food is authentic, spicy and delicious. Definitely, the best Thai food I've had in Colorado. My favorites are the Papaya Salad and Tom Yum Goong. Pros: Food Cons: Ambience more

A great find for somthing diffent 5/1/2006

The place is a perfect example of do not judge a book by its cover the stripmall is run down and looks terrable but somtimes thats the best places to look for authentic food and this time it proved true the best Thai I have ever had it was great with a good value. Pros: Great food, Great value Cons: Location, Decor more

Great Value! 3/28/2005

Just tried this place today for lunch. Let me tell you that $5 goes a long way here. We started with the chicken satay which was very well seasoned and came with a very tasty peanut sauce. My $5 lunch combo started with a sweet & sour soup and an eggroll, then came Tasty Chicken (sort of like General Tsao's), Chicken Musamum Curry and steamed rice. I was stuffed. You can make your combo from any of 10 choices. The food was as good as the best places we've tried in Denver - but much cheaper. The most expensive dish on the menu is about $10. They even offer beer & wine if you're so inclined. Don't let the run-down strip mall location keep you from trying this place. You'll like the food! Pros: Very Inexpensive, Good Food, Parking Cons: Location, Decor more
