Worst

Texas Heaters has brought poor management, unaccountability, and poor service to a disgraceful new low. Texas Heaters has no records of the final inspection for my water heater...

I am very happy to tell you the service was excellent! 7/4/2011

We just had some friends from out of town visit us, they were impressed with the unlimited amount of hot water we had. I know very few people take the time today to write a review, our Tankless installation was over 2 years ago and we are just a thrilled today as we were then. We have told all our friends, family and neighbors about Texas Heaters and the wonderful job they did and will continue to do so. I was very impressed with every aspect of our transition to the tankless system. The person I initially spoke to confirmed what I researched on the internet, answered all my questions, and provided a written estimate of the job. Installation was scheduled within the week of our decision to make the switch. Upon arrival, I received a thorough explanation of the work to be done. The old tanks were removed and the new tankless system was installed efficiently and with attention to detail. Once the job was completed, I was able to examine the work done and have my questions answered. We have been very pleased with the unit! more

don't make a decision based off the negative reviewer 7/3/2011

I honestly don't know why this other person keeps spamming the internet with negative reviews. I have spoken to the company about this guy. They said this whole thing was handled almost 2 years ago. I have had nothing but honest and great service from Austin Texas Water heaters. I would and have recommended them to friends/family WJ more

Wonderful Customer Service 6/28/2011

We had our tankless water heater installed by this company one and a half years ago and everything was done efficiently and professionally. They even had to carry out that huge water heater from the hot attic! I was so thankful they called ME to remind me of the yearly maintainence that I was supposed to schedule and had forgotten! more

Texas Water Heaters 6/16/2011

This is one of or the best service company we have dealt with in 40+ years in Austin - clean, professional, efficient. They removed two 40 gal. water heaters from our attic (!) and installed a tankless unit. They encountered other problems with our gas supply and did a considerable amount of extra work at no charge. They have our highest, unqualified recommendation. more

Texas Water Heaters is #1 6/16/2011

This is an excellent business that I would highly recommend. They were prompt in my inquiry, arrived on time to install my new water heater, and did an outstanding job on the install. Unlike many contractors, the area was left clean after they completed the job. The installation staff was professional, courteous, and promptly answered all of my questions. I can, without hesitation, recommend this company. We are very pleased with our new water heater. more

Best service and price in area for what I needed 6/16/2011

I had a tankless water heater installed by Texas Water Heaters in May, 2011. \r They were professional and helpful before, during and after the installation.\r They even took time to go over all my options with regards to tankless water heaters, the warranties, how to stay compliant with the warranties, and the pros and cons of the heater I chose which was a Rinnai.\r I am very pleased with how well the entire process went and the performance of the Rinnai water heater I chose.\r I definitely recommend them. \r more

Best Price, Best Quality in Austin 6/12/2010

This is the best crew in town. Starting with Michelle then KR and finishing with Cody and Hank. These folks set the definition for what a ""family owned"" and ""customer oriented"" business should be like. I'll be rooting for you guys success in coming generations. Pros: Excellent, Professional Service Cons: I can't see any more

Great Work at very fair prices 12/5/2009

Cody and his associate were very courteous and did an excellent job of installing a new water heater in a very difficult attic installation. They took care to put down floor protection and cleaned up afterward. They also identified code issues that other plumbers did not mention. Their prices are better than the big plumbing firms with equivalent or better work quality. I will use them again in the future. Pros: A fair price on a very difficult water heater installation more

Texas Heaters is why contractors have a bad name 9/29/2009

Texas Heaters has brought poor management, unaccountability, and poor service to a disgraceful new low. Texas Heaters has no records of the final inspection for my water heater installation I requested with the City of Austin for April 10, 2009. I immediately rescheduled this inspection for July 3, 2009 after it was canceled at the last minute by Texas Heaters. Texas Heaters notified me the Monday before July 3, 2009 that July 3 is a city holiday (Independence Day). Texas Heaters failed looked at a list of scheduled city holiday closings at any point in the three months from when I scheduled the appointment to when the holiday actually occurred. The owner’s (K.R. Salyer) response to this was “we cannot control the city.” Texas Heaters has repeatedly refused to acknowledge they failed to look at the City of Austin’s list of scheduled holiday closings. Given this failure in due diligence, I asked Salyer to bring a printed checklist of what the city would look at when conducting the final inspection. Salyer refused to bring this requested checklist, claiming he “has the checklist in his head.” The building code had changed since the job was first done, requiring rework. Had I not requested Salyer to review the work that had been done to ensure it would pass final inspection, it would have definitely failed inspection. Texas Heaters failed to keep up with what jobs were outstanding that would be affected by requirement changes that occur from year to year. Now that I had little confidence in how Salyer was managing this project, I asked for a written statement that Texas Heaters would actually show up to finish the job Texas Heaters was paid to do; Salyer interrupted me every time I attempted to bring this up, quickly invoking the fact that the city will shut off my utilities if this open building permit expires. After my repeated attempts to get something in writing from Salyer to get some acknowledgement of accountability for the problems I was experiencing with Texas Heaters, Salyer threatened to walk off the job and let the open building permit expire. Now I had effectively paid Salyer thousands of dollars to bully me in addition to poorly manage this project. I failed to withhold a portion of the payment until the final inspection was complete; something I will most certainly do with any contractor I hire in the future. Anyone considering hiring Texas Heaters should take heed that when problems arise to the customer’s dissatisfaction, Texas Heaters will not hesitate to threaten to walk off the job and leave the customer without utilities. If Texas Heaters is as competent and trustworthy as Salyer claims, providing anything in writing should not be a problem. Threatening a customer with walking off the job and leaving them without water, electricity and gas is a sign of a poorly operated business that does not have any respect for its customers. Texas Heaters will quickly claim they “cannot control the city” when problems arise, but you can control who you hire. Hire a plumber who is accountable, keeps good records, provides customer with requested written information, and plans ahead. Cons: bullies customers and threatened to walk off the job more
