Terrace Creek Park

I didn't think Candy Cane Park still existed in Mountlake Terrace but thanks to Google I was really happy to see that it does! The last time I stepped foot in the park was in 1966 when I was 5 years old. My 4 year old brother and I used to run away from home in our pajamas and we would always get caught swinging on the swingset by the police and taken home. Usually we were soaking wet from the rain so we appreciated the ride home. We got to know the Mountlake Terrace Police very well! LOL I live in Spanaway, Wa now and my little brother has passed away so I think I'll take a drive to the park to see what it looks like now and to see one of the few things that are still around from my childhood. more

Mountlake Terrace has a 60 acre park (large for a city only 4 square miles!) called Terrace Creek Park. To local kids it's also known as Candy Cane Park for it's red and white striped play equipment. There are trails that I have seen, but have never walked. They go through the woods, which it seems would be quite refreshing on a hot day. I don't know if there is an actual creek there or not, since I haven't explored it. Other amenities include: a frisbee golf course (aka disc golf), barbecues, drinking fountain, picnic areas, play equipment, playfield and portable restrooms. The easiest way to get to this park would be to go south on 44th Ave W, turn right (west) on 228th St SW, then turn left on 48th Ave W. The park is on both side of the road along that street, with lots of street parking. I suggest you give it a try and then review it for us! more
