I had been going to Dr Willoughby since I moved here upon neighbors' recommendations. 2 years ago I took one of my dogs in for severe bloody diarrhea and stomach cramps/pain. He gave her a steroid and antibiotics, without much examination or testing. I should have known better. Steriods will temporarily cover anything up without curing it, and antibiotics are only good for bacterial infections. 3 weeks later, while she was boarded and I was out of country, she became furiously and painfully I'll. The kennel's vet diagnosed her with stomach cancer (an x-Ray showed that!) and she passed away within 12 hours of that. Had she been x-rayed before, I would have been aware and not gone out of country! Then last year when I acquired and new puppy I took it in for it's puppy exams and vaccinations. During I spoke with Dr Willoughby about her habit of ""spinning/tail chasing"". He mentioned medication for it, but didn't say what it was. So when I tried to pin him down on it the next visit, I couldn't get him to give me a straight answer. Instead, when he said let me look it up (I thought he meant her condition!) and he went to look up some 80s pop group video of 'spin me round' (or whatever!) I was pretty annoyed! When some months later I scheduled a heart worm check (and only that!) for my older dog on a Friday. Keep in mind, he has NO Sat hours, and he closes early on Friday. I let the Receptionist know that it was going to be cutting it close, as I couldn't be guaranteed to be able to leave work in time. She thought as long as I wasn't more than 15 minutes late, it would be fine. As it was I ran into construction traffic. I called to let them know, but was told to come in anyway. When I got there, the only friendly person was the receptionist. Every one else gave me dirty looks. Dr Willoughby then took it upon himself to prepare all vaccinations for my dog, although I only came in for a HWC. She wouldn't have been due again for another 3 months. When I told him no, he was furious, stating that I told him I'd have him administer them this year, and raising his voice to me about how he wasted $60 worth of vaccines. Since I usually do them myself (I'm trained to do so) I know that his cost was probably less than $15. As I was paying for my HWC and meds, he came over to me to apologize, but I'm sorry, that was the last straw. BTW, for me to buy the heart worm meeds on line, where it was cheaper, he would have charged me an extra $8 per pet for a prescription fee, which is not legal! I have had some good vets in other places I've lived, and he doesn't even come close! He's too flippant, flighty not very thorough!
