I found a copy of The Lord of the Rings series in this place and I am very thankful for the people that informed me that there are copies of these books here.

A bookstore right up my alley 3/27/2011

I live right up the alley from Tattered Cover (well technically down the alley) by a few houses so we feel pretty lucky and are frequent customers. The people in there are more than exceptional as far as customer service (they are really nice) and will special order anything they don't have in at the moment. I have an 8 year old son who loves the children's section. We have a favorite bench in one of the book sections where I can use my computer for a bit while he reads to review a book he might like to buy. His most recent book was Ghost Hunt and he says it's really good (all you kids in the same age range). They just special ordered Houdini's Paper Magic for my son. He doesn't know it yet because it's a surprise. They giftwrap and I've gotten lots of cool pairs of eye glasses there. I lose them fairly often, so to have a place so close I can replace them in a minute is great. It's wonderful to be so close to such a place. (Oh, and the empanadas in the coffee shop are delicious, as are the books). They also have great lectures and book signings for many different interests. The ones I've gone to were memorable and worth my time. I know that anyone who loves books knows Tattered Cover, but sometimes we tend to take good things for granted, so why not give them props! more

The best environment for browsing books in Denver 4/15/2010

The Tattered Cover is a fantastic local bookstore that's been in Denver for a long time. Recently the Cherry Creek location moved to Colfax, in a refurbished theater which is a bit cathedral-like. There's plenty of place for contemplation of the books, hanging out, sipping coffee, and just enjoying that you're in a bookstore. The only downside in comparison to other chains like B&N and Borders is the lack of an automatic discount, but the difference is small. Pros: broad selection, atmosphere, events, free parking Cons: retail price more

Don't let corporate America take them down 11/20/2006

I have to give credit to this book store. My kids grew up in the one in CC. I hope everyone supports this bookstore, they are a Denver Icon. They staff is wondeful, and it feels like home. Pros: Historical Cons: Parking more

Great bargain bin finds! 2/8/2006

Although we prefer the Cherry Creek location, these two stores offer about the same books. The staff is friendly and the bargain bin is worth checking out from time to time. They also make an effort to have lots of authors and book related events, which is unique. (I have had poor customer service from the in-store coffee shop.) Pros: Events, bargain bin, seating Cons: retail pricing, leftist bias more

I love this place! 11/22/2005

Tattered Cover is the best! The Lodo location is smaller than the original, but just loaded with treasures. The staff is knowleadgeable and friendly. The atmosphere is great at this location. Parking is limited, but I've never had a problem finding a spot. more

My favorite bookstore 11/7/2005

Whenever I am downtown, I stop at the Tattered Cover, and I rarely come away empty-handed. They have a great selection, are housed in a big old building with loads of character, and the people working there know books. There are lots of nooks where you can tuck yourself away with your books and read for a while, undisturbed, as you choose which books you will purchase. The coffee bar is excellent as well, and (important to me!) they don't charge extra for soy. I've also been to events there, which makes the Tattered Cover a real community place. PROS: Location, books, staff, coffee bar CONS: more
