Usually great! 8/14/2011

We've been to the Taste of Thai many times. We are grateful, though, that they ask you what level of spice you can handle (we always say ""not spicy"", because sometimes it's still a little spicy.) But, we've always gone for supper in the past. Recently we went at lunch and were surprised that the portions were much smaller. We like to eat family style where everybody shares, but there was not enough to share really. So, go for supper. But the food tastes great anytime! =) more

I feel Morally obligated to mention... 8/11/2009

After being a very good customer of Taste of Thai for several years, my wife was served food which was clearly bad. Everyone at the table agreed as we smelled it too! To give them some props, they offered to replace the dish, but understandably she had lost her apatite and just asked they take it back. When it came time to pay I noticed the offending dish was on the ticket. Pointing their mistake out they refused to remove it from the bill. Not to make a scene we left the restaurant having paid for bad food which was obviously not eaten! I always had found the employees there a little off-hand, but this was ridiculous. Needless to say, we no longer eat there. As a footnote, I should mention that this is the only time my wife has ever sent anything back in a restaurant. Pros: food is (usually) good Cons: bad business practices more

Best Thai in Knoxville... maybe anywhere 12/13/2008

Seriously... I travel around the US for business and their food takes the cake. I chuckled when I read the con of, ""No room for dessert"" because I've ate there atleast 100 times (Yes, seriously) and I've had dessert once I can remember. My friend and I made up the ""Taste of Thai Challenge"" You have to eat there once a day for a week... we beat the challenge (Twice).\r \r If you think I am exaggerating any of this, eat there. The service is AMAZING, you receive your food in uner 10 minutes when its slow and under 20 when its busy. Thats another thing... over the 4 years that I've been going there, I've watched the business grow. We use to go in on a Friday night and sit down right away. Now there is sometimes a short wait for a table. Part of me almost doesn't want you to go because I want my table:-p.\r \r First thing you must order is the Drunken Noodle. The dinner portion is so large that you have to make sure you don't eat before hand... or you won't finish it. My ONLY problem ever was with a new waiter who didn't put in my soup as spicy as I wanted it. I had a friend come in who doesn't like spicy food so I had them lower the spiciness of my soup (Which I had just ordered) and the waiter said, ""Don't worry, I told them to make it a 3."" The spiciness ranges from 1-5 and Thai hot... I had ordered a 5. I was unhappy about this... but for that to be the WORST thing that has happened to me in 100+ visits, I am quite pleased.\r \r If you think I'm lying about going over there 100 times... find out if I'm in Knoxville and go to Taste of Thai... I'll be there. My last 2 day visit had 3 trips to Taste of Thai.\r \r Pros - SPICY! (If you want) Fast service, Beautiful women, Amazing service, Amazing food, Fresh ingredients, Home owned feel, New Flat screen TV in main room, Quiet restaurant, Large portions, Across the street from Best Buy, Near West town mall.\r \r Cons - You can't stop eating... I've overate a few times... ALWAYS FINISH YOUR PLATE! more

This place is ADDICTIVE! 9/12/2008

Everyone in our large office seems to be addicted to Taste of Thai! My friends and I never choose to go anywhere for lunch other than TASTE OF THAI! LOVE IT! \r \r Great service too! Pros: Ambience Cons: Not Enough Food more

Best Thai food anywhere and lots of Thai smiles on the service 6/5/2008

This is the best Thai food in the world (really!) and the service is the best I have had anywhere. I have eaten at over a hundred Thai restaurants, only to miss this place until I return. This place is THE Thai Restaurant! The appetizer, I think it is called cream cheese crab roll is about the best seafood taste you can put in your mouth. I have eaten everything on the menu and it is all very good. My favorites are the 'basil fried rice with prawn (shrimp) with number two on the seasoning scale'. Anything hotter only covers up the great taste of it all for me. If you see an ingredient on the dish that you do not want, such as bell peppers for me, they will leave it out for you, even make substitutions too. Other Thai restaurants in the USA or Thailand finish a distant second or below after the Taste of Thai.\r \r The service there is very good and it never takes long. The waitresses are all 100% GREAT and always make me feel at home. From Bangkok to Patong Beach to anywhere else, this is the best! Pros: Great Thai food made to order, always fresh, very good waitresses, romantic Cons: I never have room for desserts more

Best tasting thai food in Knoxville. 2/3/2008

First I would like to point out that after eating at taste of Thai many times, I was just looking to see if they were opened on Sunday. I noticed the two reviews and the poor rating just made me need to see what they didn't like. I also decided to check out what other reviews had been written by the same person. Turns out they wrote a stellar review for Wasabi, and two scorching reviews for their closest competitors. Any chance they could manage Wasabi? I love thai food. I was stationed in Guam in 92 and have loved it ever since. There have been 6 thai places that have made food spicy enough for me, and one that was so spicy, I had to take a break. Taste of Thai is the best tasting Thai food in Knoxville, period. I would give it 5 stars, but they are afraid to make it spicy enough for me. (the Firehouse in Michigan was the ""too spicy"", if you want to know)\r Pros: Tastes great. Cons: have to drive 30 minutes from my house to get it. more

Worth a Visit 10/25/2006

The service is less than desirable. When it's busy, you can expect to be there an hour so make up your mind fast and order when they come to get your drink order if you want to get out quick (they don't return to your table that often either). However, I think the food is VERY good. Lunch specials are a good deal. You also get ALOT of food for the money. I have my favorites so I don't venture to see how the rest of the menu tastes but the combination Pad Thai (chicken/beef/pork/shrimp), Rama Chicken, Basil Chicken, Som Tum (papaya salad), Pork Satay and TOT Fried Rice - all Thai hot spicy, of course - are EXCELLENT. I'm a repeat customer at least every 2 wks for the past 2 yrs and will keep returning...even if the service is a little slow. At least they're friendly and it's a clean place. and it's alot better than the other Thai restaurant(s) in Knoxville. Pros: Food Taste, Quantity and Price Cons: Service more
