The Only Indonesian Food 7/26/2008

Today I have a dinner at this restaurant......the food...I love it so much.....Highly recommend for new comer to try the ""Ayam Bakar Jimbaran"" ( Grilled Chicken ) for an entree and Risol for appetizer; the taste is really really really good. I also try the ""Gudeg"" (Jackfruit), the appearance maybe looks weird but don't get that fool you because once you try it you will grave for more; and even it was a fruit but the texture just like meat ( I'm found it very interesting ). The waiter is very friendly and helpful doing the explanation of the food and definitely will come back to explore the other foods. However, may expect a little longer wait time when it busy.... hehe overall I am satisfied. more

NOT VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 7/20/2008

We used to eat there twice a month, however they are horrible now. They will not tell you about fish sauce or shrimp paste and say it is vegetarian. We found chicken in our vegetarian gudeg and they tried to blame it on us. Vegans and Vegetarians, do not go here, they lie about all the food. more

Simple and Delicious Food.. One of The Best 4/10/2008

I just had my lunch with my friends at Taste of Bali today... it was fun although we have to wait for quit long time... the food is so yummy and very attractive.. even in the menu.. I just realized they have changed their decoration and some foods on their menu... I think Gurame Goreng (I am not sure to write this one though...) is the most attractive one... also ask for Ayam Bakar Jimbaran... it was totally awesome.. I really recommend this place to everyone who likes to explore exotic cuisine.... Pros: Food and One Dollar Movie.... Cons: One Server and Parking more

Best Indonesian Food Ever 4/3/2008

Very good food, great hospitality, authentic decor, prices are a bit high but it is worth it believe me. more

Good Food; Average Service 3/30/2008

Having been to Indonesia several times, the food here was excellent and the selection was quite good also. Several entrees are available in the $7 - $10 range. The ayam goreng (fried chicken) is very good as well as several of the seafood dishes (try the udang goreng). The desserts are all traditional and as good as I've had in Indonesia. The only down side was the service. It is a rather small restaurant (10 tables), but there is only one server and she just couldn't keep up. Expect long waits for the meal courses and the check. Pros: Authentic tasting food Cons: Below average service more

Real sweet little Date Night Place 1/30/2008

Great tasting Food and very Original and marvelous Cocktails. One Cocktail is even served in a green Coconut just like in Bali! Balinese Food is very fresh oriented dishes and what is locally grown in Bali. It was an absolute experience eating there. it is a quite small Restaurant but very nicely decorated, it's like a little, short get-away for a meal. We loved their Mango Cocktail! We also loved the variety in their platters. We had a fruit cooked like chicken and you would be surprised how great it tasted though it wasn't real chicken but a fruit. I was a sweet experience and definately romantic! Pros: Sweet and Romantic Date Night Location Cons: small, so Reservations might be a good idea on regular busy nights more

pleasant oriental place - food could be better. 12/15/2006

The place had a good atmosphere with simple decor. We went for lunch on a weekday and the place was empty. The food was cheap $4.95 lunch menu which includes an entree and 2 appetizers. The portions were small, perfect for lunch, but both of us did not really enjoy the food. Everything was greasy and deep fried and the meat was low grade. very similar to cheap chinese fare. The service was good. Pros: Affordable fare particularly for lunch Cons: food was not that great, a popular chinese joint would be better choice.. more

Variety of tastes at a reasonable price 6/27/2006

Portions are just the right size. The $3.99 lunch special, now from Tuesday-Friday, is a great deal with one entree & two sides. Deserts are tasty. Coconut is a very prominent flavor in all courses. Try the cocktail served in a coconut. Truly a unique treat. Also, fresh juices mean real fruit and vegetables blended. The tomato juice was sort of like a tomato smoothie, not V8. Pros: Low prices, interesting cuisine Cons: Parking by movie theatre on $.50 Tuesday more

Very Different, but good! 3/1/2006

Had dinner at Taste of Bali tonight. We were welcomed with a wonderful smell as we entered the restaurant. The food was very different and smelled wonderful. We had the crag rangoon and lettuce wraps for appetizers, they were great. My friend had the fried crispy chicken and I had a chicken noodle soup. They were very good. more

Great food 1/20/2006

Nice place. Great food with many flavors. The portion sizes are very small. I haven't tried their lunch specials yet. But I'd definetly go there again. more

The best way of Tasting exotic cuisines 11/15/2005

A Great restaurant with exotic looks, drinks, and most importantly foods. For $8.95 I can try many different kind of foods from many different kind of islands in Indonesia. The service, food portion and quality are EXCELLENT. Kelapa Cocktail is the best drink ever. It is like Pinacolada indonesian style served with a fresh young coconut....MAN .... Try it and you know what I mean. Pros: Nice decor, Great food & drink, Very helpful Cons: Parking more

User review by brit1 8/29/2005

We've been twice, and were not overly impressed. Yes, the food is different and out-of-the-ordinary, but the portions are very small, and the meat is not of great quality. I don't like leaving a restaurant feeling fat and bloated, but I don't want to be considering stopping for a cheeseburger on the way home either. The pay-per-bottle sodas do little to improve the experience. A good place for a first date or a special occasion, but not recommended for an every-day dinner. Pros: Different., Prompt seating., Location/parking. Cons: Small portions., Quality and value., Soda prices. more

Get the Snapper 8/20/2005

The Whole Snapper entree is excellent. Venture further and be careful. There are reasons why entrees only cost $5.95. Cheap but not high quality. Service is willing but there are language barriers that cause problems. Pros: Whole Snapper, Cheap Cons: Poor Quality, Language Barriers more

The Best Lunch Specials In Town! 4/7/2005

On Tuesdays and Thursdays they have the best lunch specials ever-for 3.99! You pick one meat entree and two vegetable entrees, and you get a large portion of rice with it. It's a great way to try some new dishes. I always ask for everything to be spicy, but a lot of it comes very mild (too mild for me!). I highly recommend this restaurant. It's the best kept secret in town. I go try and go at least once a week! Spread the word! My favorites are the chicken in the red curry sauce (but I ask for it hot), the egg (hot again) and the green beans. The spicy beef in coconut sauce is great too. Yummmm. Oh the Mango drink is delicious too. Pros: Inexpensive, Fast, Yummy!!!!!! more

The place to find amazing, unusual, but fabolous food. The food is from many different islands in Indonesia (17,000 island). What I love the most is the RISTAFEL. Because we can have most of the exotic food in a visit. with only $9.95 we can have 8 different kinds of baliness foods in our table. They have varieties of sweet treats; but what like the most is the fresh young coconut and the bubur ketan hitam. The server is very friendly and helpfull. It is the best exotic and inexpensive restaurant in town. Pros: inexpensive, friendly staffs, GREAT food more
