I was at this restaurant on Saturday night. And I have to say it was the WORST experience I have ever had at a Batali restaurant. I have been to every single one of his restaurants along with Lidia's and Thomas Keller therefore, I am no stranger to fine dining and I have never experienced this. The waitress we had was rude and barely even looked at us.
I was amazed at the no substitution policy but beyond that amazed that you would keep employees that act so rudely to customers. We went to your restaurant with the idea of having an amazing no holds dinner. After her attitude we just ordered pizza. From now on I will stick to going to NYC Italian restaurants. As a reminder to your staff you never know who you deal with when a patron sits at a table. Therefore, you should treat everyone with respect and a pleasant attitude.
As a note she rudely left our table and threw our ticket to a man (Dan) server who I have to say was pleasant and friendly and explained the no substitution policy so nicely and was more than wonderful.
He is a saving grace to the staff. After she rudely left our table she never came back she never even looked at us. I have never been treated so rudely when I am out spending money at a restaurant. I have friends and family coming in town from Rome, Italy every few weeks and one of my stops has always been to take them to a batali restaurant after this service that will never happen again. I will save my self the embarrassment.
Pros: pizza
Cons: service if your over 70 its great!!
