They serve three kinds of oysters – NW Olympia, Gulf from Texas and NW Totten. I was impressed by the readily identifiable types, which apparently all receive high marks for sustainability. Next, I perused the specials of the day. Swordfish and Wahoo sandwiches and white Gulf shrimp all seem to be good choices on the most popular consumer guides. The Chilean salmon in the herb-crusted salmon salad and catch of the day entrees seems to be a sustainable suspect to be avoided. Concerned with the restaurant’s lack of a publicized commitment to seafood sustainability, I decided to go seafood-less and ordered the Gables Chop Salad. Holy vinegar Batman. The highly acidic vinaigrette dressing coupled with the sugary “unsweetened” iced tea rendered my taste buds highly fatigued. I left with the same feeling that I get when I eat too many sour patch kids. @TeamSeafoodie more

Great food. Had the seafood kettle which is basically gazpacho . Also had a steak which was perfectly prepared and the dolphin rueban which was also yummy . more

My boyfriend and I ate here while visiting from Canada for a family wedding. It is a great experience for anyone new to Miami. The seafood is top notch featuring both a local and country wide selection. We had a sampling of oysters, which were delicious and fresh - a great way to start the meal. Both of our mains were satisfying and tasty. The service is good although almost to attentive. They have happy hour almost every evening, with two for one specials. Even though we arrived a little late they still gave us the drink special and one round on the house because it was my birthday. more

The server saw I couldn't decide and after I said I wanted a lighter meal she suggested the Asian Tuna Burger... WOW what a great burger. It's made from fresh ground tune... then pattied and cooked (medium rare) then topped with a soy sauce and pickled ginger. I may never go back to beef... but actually Tarpon has excellent beef burgers too! more

Very nice, atmospheric, and clean spot with great service and quality food.\r \r Stopped in here for lunch while looking for a place to watch my favorite college football team play in their bowl game yesterday. Even though they didn't open until noon, the staff let us in at 11 since we couldn't find another place to watch the game so early. We sat at the bar and the bar keep took great care of us. I had the mahi ceviche to start, and it was surprisingly tasty (even to a ceviche snob... we make it fresh after fishing trips quite often). The crispy fried grouper sandwich was also very nice. more

Bad Lunch! 9/19/2008

The best part of the lunch today was the greeting from the hostess. I really have never been a fan however it is near the office and we did not want to drive. Anyways - I ordered the special, the shrimp stir fry. You would think for a $16 lunch plate it would taste better than a frozen meal. Our server was a ghost - she took the order and disappeared. I think I will stick to their happy hour - no more lunches for me. Cons: bad special - bad service more

Excellent food, great service 5/6/2008

Everything I've ordered here has been amazing. Highly recommended for the crab cakes. The bar also whips up some tasty drink creations or they have a good selection of beer. Parking is of course a problem (like everywhere else on miracle mile) but it's worth it and they are open pretty late on the weekends. more

2 for 1 Happy Hour 4/22/2008

Now you know 2 for 1 always leads to a good time!! I have not tried the food at Tarpon Bend as of yet, but I will say they put on one heck of a good Happy Hour!! I love my Mojitos, and I will admit I am a huge snob on what I consider a good drink, (as all Connoisseurs should be.) One bartender made a very good drink, and one of the other gals did not. In conversation with the first gentleman I mentioned he made a better drink, and not only did he swap out the glass in front of me free of charge (and without a formal request I might add) but he made sure to personally serve my entire party for the rest of the night!! Whenever I want to eat somewhere that looks nice, but inexpensive I like coming here. The food is good, the service can be a little better. The place in general is pretty, its a very chill enviornment without the cost of somewhere pricey. The food is very good, despite not having a very large menu. Pros: price, food Cons: service more

PRETTY GOOD TO HANG OUT WITH COMPANIES, TO DRING SOMETHING IN THE HAPPY HOURS, BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, BEAUTIFUL PLACE.\r THE FOOD IS NORMAL FOOD, NOTHING WOW... THE SERVICE IS AVERAGE... AND SOMETIMES THE BARTENDER (VERY RUDE, HE SHOULDN'T WORK WITH PEOPLE BUT WITH HIMSELF ONLY) LOOKS UPSET DURING THE HAPPY HOURS WHEN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DRINK 2 FOR 1... INCREDIBLE... Great Seafood in the Gables 5/14/2007

We just took some friends here and really enjoyed the fare. Fish was fresh and the menu had a lot of options, from burgers to salads to the more elegant herb seared tuna (what we chose). Portions were good, we shared an entree and had room for the amazing banana coconut cream pie. Everyone in our party said the seafood was really excellet, so we all left very happy! Good food & drinks, nice casual ambience 10/30/2006

This is a nice place to go on the weekends. The food is very good and offers surprisingly good burgers (since it is a primarily a seafood place). Full bar with a large variety of martinis which makes it a good weekend spot. They usually offer a nice selection of oysters. There is a nice area outside with tables and couches which makes it an ideal location to gather with friends. And the prices are good. We really enjoy this place. Best burgers in Coral Gables 3/20/2006

A great place to be during happy hour. Especially with the buy-one-get-one-free drink incentive!! Even Martinis!! When it gets busy, it takes a while to get service.. but well worth the wait. This restaurant should be known for its delicious burgers, instead of its seafood.. Looking around the restaurant, burgers seem to be all that everyone was ordering.
