I have taken 2 Dobermans and 2 German Shepherds to TK9. This week I am taking a third Doberman to be trained in the off leash program. The trainers are extremely helpful and the dogs come out very obedient. As with any obedience program you must continue the practice once you are home to have a truly obedient dog. \r \r I highly recommend their program! \r more

I just saw this, even as its two years old as the owner of Highland Canine Training I don't condone playing the two sides against the other. Excellent facility and staff. The bad review on here is unfair and clearly motivated to promote a competitor with nothing close to the credentials of the trainers at Tarheel Canine. TK9 has Homeland Security contracts, has trained law enforcement dogs for the city and county in which they reside....do you think the sheriff's department would buy dogs from them if their facility was as described in the below review? It is awful that people can leave anonymous reviews trashing someone's business and not have to be accountable. TK9 is a working dog kennel with professional staff and great quality trainers. Their pet training is excellent. See them for yourself. Read the reviews on the site, ask for references, and talk to their clients. They will provide you with recent clients. You will have a great experience. more

We have been very pleased with our experience with Tarheel Canine! We left the country for a month and wanted our 1 year old vizsla to be kenneled somewhere he could gain practical on/off leash skills so that he could be fully integrated into our lifestyle and our family. We could not have been happier with Anna the head trainer and how well Rhodie came back to us! He came home with practical, repeatable behaviors and skills to function in any environment. We were given a video, and as many practice sessions as we need. Anna has been great to follow up with us, even months later and has met us for follow up lessons when we requested. Our dog was so bad!!!! He made marley and me look like an angel! Thanks to tarheel not only is our dog trained obedient and well mannered but we get compliments all the time! He is a champion line dogue de borduox weighing 105 at 10 months old and was so hard to manage, now he is a pleasure and can be a real part of the family! We were highly reffered to them by many friends and thank god for them everyday! The caring staff was awesome I could tell my dog loved his trainers! It may not have been a pretty place but they definitely did a top notch job even with our spoiled yuppy puppy! After all was done and our dog came home the trainer stayed in contact to check and see if he was still obedient, that really shows how they care.thank you tar heel from our whole family! more

This company gives the canine training world a bad name, point blank! Not only do they inflate their prices based on the client but there facility is ancient and dirty. I went there last week to see what the hype was all about and left vomiting. I actually went to a groomer to wash my pour dog from decease. I would compare this place to a crack house, actually a crack house is an upgrade compared to this place. I must have waited for what seemed like an eternity to finally get service. After chatting online, I was advised NOT to do any business with its owner or trainers. They all stated the same thing ‘they don’t care about the client just there wallets’. One lady told me that she went there three months ago with her kids and overheard a group of men talking about how the trainers get bit, the spread of kennel deceases and how their training courses are a BIG JOKE. They all recommend Highland Canine Training which is just down the road, which I am pleased to say, is way better. If you do business with this company please open your eyes and get a tetanus shot when you leave. more
