Yea?The owner went under; who would have thought? The new owner seems great.

Worst

I've been to several cigar shops/hookah lounges from the midwest to all up and down the east cost. Tarazona definitely has its ""pros"" and ""cons"". I went in to smoke a hookah...

Terrible 6/26/2009

I went in with friends, we were just having a good time and wanted to try the place out. $20 to smoke hookah for the three of us, way to expensive. And the service was terrible. The owner took his dear time coming to the front counter to help us. We sat down and talked for a bit and enjoyed our hookah, until my friend wanted to by a couple cigars since it was my birthday. He went to the front and waited till the all but helpful owner decided to come to the counter. My friend simply asked for the cheapest ""least expensive"" cigar. The owner flipped. I mean he was completely enraged. He turned his hat backwards and came around the counter and puffed his chest up to my friend. My friend did everything to avoid a fight, and he did a swell job keeping his cool, even after the owner assaulted ""pushed"" my friend out of shear anger. So we left, never to return. Avoid this place. Cons: owner more

This place is a front for something. It is simply impossible to stay in business the way tho place is run. Little to no customer service. Cigar selection is extinct... Much like the dinosaurs. My guess is the owner is having some money problems. I'm probably wasting my time writing this,,, They might be out of business by the time I finish. more

do not go here 12/20/2008

Worst hookah experience i have ever had, the place was a total joke. The service was beyond poor. It's too bad this place even exists, its a total waste of space. Pros: haha Cons: owner more

horrible 12/20/2008

if you're looking for a hookah place designed by martha stewart, run by fidel castro, and frequented by the chest thumping football bros, this is the place to be! Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE HOOKAH, HORRIBLE ATMOSPHERE, HORRIBLE CROWD more

The worst hookah experience ever! 12/11/2008

I had a similar experience just like everyone else who has posted a review here. The owner was very rude to say the least. The owner was busy playing video games with his buddies and kept us waiting at the cash register. Did not talk properly and made up some crazy prices. He told me he didn't care about my business and it didn't matter to him if i never came back. Pros: Ambience - but its not worth it if it doesn't go with good customer service Cons: Customer Service (or lack of it) more

Not all it's cracked up to be. 12/7/2008

What the heck is up with this place? I was in Lynchburg on Friday, December 5th to do some shopping with the Mrs. We drove by Tarazonas so I figured I'd stop by and have a good cigar for a bit and let take the car and go shopping. Went in and was so disappointed I nearly died. This place is a joke, and I damn near laughed till I cried when someone told me that the owner of this place claims to be a ""fine purveyor"" of cigars. Holy hell what a laugh. Hardly had any cigars in his ""humidor"". Which by the way, I've seen convenient stores with bigger humidors than this guy. The owner (Eddie) sat on the sofa playing video games and never once got up to assist me. It wasn't until I stood at the register for damn near 15 minutes and said, ""Hey, I need some help"" did the guy finally pause his have to come over. I told him I have a sister who loves Zanzibar clove cigarettes and did he carry them. Nope, not at Tarazonas, he doesn't carry ANY brand of cloves. When I asked why not he replied with ""Oh, well to carry a brand like Zanzibar I'd have to charge customers $20 a pack (not carton, but an individual pack) because they are an exotic import cigarette. What a load of B.S. In fact what if a whole heard of cattle swept through Wyndhurst and deficated everywhere it wouldn't be a bigger load of Sh*t than what this guy was spilling out of his mouth! My sister has bought Zanzibar Cloves every where from Toronto Canada, New York City, and little back woods ""mom and pop"" shops in the hills of Boone North Carolina, and she has never paid more than $6.50 for a pack (even in places up north where tobacco is more expensive.) This little guy and his store is a joke, clearly he knows nothing about tobacco sales, and even less about cigars. What a little clown. Pros: Ha. Cons: Everything from selection to customer service. more

hookah 9/25/2008

I've been to several cigar shops/hookah lounges from the midwest to all up and down the east cost. Tarazona definitely has its ""pros"" and ""cons"". I went in to smoke a hookah the other night with some friends. The staff was helpful. They told us to pick out a flavor and they would set up the rest. They even offered to put ice in the vase. We asked if they had a multiple hose hookah, and they setup a two hose hookah for us. It was $5 to setup the hookah and $5 per person. This is very reasonable from my experience. I've been to places in the North East that have a cover charge and a drink minimum. There have been some times where we've dropped $125 between 4 of us just to smoke a hookah. So $25 for all of us is very reasonable. Tarazona offers free coffee and tea (if they have it brewed). I have been in there before and got into it with the owner. I asked him why he doesn't come around and tend to us like they do at other hookah lounges. He told me that ""this is my shop and I don't feel like waiting on people, and if you have a problem with that then don't come here."" He's very cut and dry. Pros: good selection on hookah flavors and cigars Cons: hours on door don't mean a thing. opens much later than noon. more

Worst experience ever! 9/23/2008

Just went there tonite to smoke hookah. 5 dollars per person(first time Ive heard of someone charging per person) plus 10 dollars just to set the hookah up. Biggest rip off Ive ever seen. Ive smoked everywhere from Philadelphia to Arizona and this was the worst experience ever. He tried explaining that this was the cheapest place to get hookah on the east coast(total lie) and thats hes paid over 50 dollars just to sit in some hookah lounges. Owner started swearing at me and said he was happy to never get my business again. All I wanted to know was to see if I could ever bring my own hookah. I would suggest that everyone never set foot in this place again! The owner is going to run that place into the ground from what Ive heard in other reviews. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything from cigar selection, only has 1 hose hookahs, and the worst customer service! more

Swing....and a miss. 9/14/2008

Drove up from Roanoke the other day to review the two tobacco shops there in Lynchburg. A buddy of mine wanted me to write a ""Tobacco Shop Review"" for his private magazine. The magazine was an experiment he started three years ago. Today he has 250 subscribers in VA and 120 nation wide. The magazine is all about the love to tobacco, and new subscribers must be recommended by a current member. Anyway, when I got to Tarazona Tobacco & Coffee Co. I was pretty impressed by the look of the inside, (as far as the lounge look goes), but once I got past that my opinion changed real quick. There was a poor slection of cigars, considering the term ""purveyor of fine cigars"" has been used to describe Tarazonas. I was the oldest person there along with about 5 very younger looking people sitting around. The most embarrassing part was when I attempted to get coffee. There where two coffee pots out, and both where empty. When I politly asked if they were going to make more coffee, the guy working rudly snapped, ""Yeah, IF and WHEN I feel like!"" Even the little community this place was in was a joke. It was like a ghost town, or some post apocolyptic set built for a Twilight Zone episode. I wish this site allowed people to award only half a star, because that's exactly what this place needs, or no star at all. Pros: Lounge looks nice. Cons: Poor employee attitude (something you have to have in the cigar industry), poor slection, unfriendly atmosphere. more

Well...conflicts abound. 9/10/2008

I have to agree with the ""King of England"" I was in there about two months ago and the walk in humidor didn't have anything in it but a few Don Kiki cigars. I asked the owner Eddie where the other cigars were and he replied (in a bit of an angry voice) with ""Well what exactly are you looking for?"" I said, ""Well, I'm not sure, I smoke a lot of different brands, I was just curious if you carry other cigars other than Don Kiki."" He rudely brushed passed me and mumbled something under his breath. I just shrugged and left. I?ve been to nearly 150+ tobacco and cigar shops in my lifetime, all the way from little ?mom and pop? shops in the Midwest, to places like Club Macanudo and Nat Sherman in New York City, Corona World Headquarters in Orlando, and Outlaw Cigars in Arizona, and I have never ran into an owner as rude as this guy. I first thought it was just one of those days, but I?ve talked to a lot of fellow ?Lynchburgers? who have had the same ?unfriendly? run in with this owner. Pros: Place looked nice. Cons: Just because it ""looks nice"" they greatly lack product and friendly service. more

Great ambiance and selection 6/22/2008

I have been to many tobacco shops, everywhere from Maryland to South florida, and I really like Tarazona. They have a very comfortable and stylish lounge; big leather chairs and sofas. If your taste are more sophisticated than the college weekend crowd, they have a private lounge, with a huge walk-in humidor, upstairs. The lounge has a yearly fee, but they have a big TV with all the pay-per-view events that comes with membership. I enjoy my membership. Pros: They have a large selection of hookah tobaccos and cigars. Cons: Not a large selections on pipes more

Nice cigar selection and ambiance. 5/22/2008

That interesting King of England. I came up from South Florida and thought Tarazona was pretty quaint and I enjoyed his selection. Padron, Pepin Garcia, Oliva, Perdomo, and much more. Yeah his humidor is pretty full. I know they had just moved over to their new location. Now if you thought that dude in there would kiss your a@@ dream on. He doesn't work that way. That's probably why your feelings got hurt... I guess. Your mommy wasn't there to coddle you. As far as price I found them in line with other shops in major markets. All in all very pleasant experience. By the way King of England you can't spell. Pros: Impressive Selection for a small shop and nice ambiance. Does not look like your typical cigar shop but more like a lounge. Very relaxing. Cons: If you don't like honesty don't go there owner is brutally honest and simply straight forward. more

What a Joke! 1/1/2008

"" Purveyor of Fine Cigars"" my foot! I have scoped this joint out pleanty of times, and trust me, this place is as much a tobacco shop as I am the king of England. Look folks, take it from me, I've smoked a ton of cigars (everything from cheap little $1.00 no names, all the way up to $700.00 Gurkas) if your looking for fine cigars then Tarazona's is NOT the place for you. The cigars (what little he has, and boy do I mean little) are very over priced, the slection, as noted before is very very small (mostly Don Kiky, 5 Vegas, and a handfull of La Vieja Habana by Drew Estate), in fact, I've seen non-smokers with more of a cigar slection than this place. And what about pipes and pipe tobacco? HA, nada, zip, zilch, not a pipe, tin, or house blend to be found there! And the service? Forget about it. Extremely rude employees who do nothing but sit around and play video games the whole time you're waiting to cash out. On one occassion I was in there, there was a young couple sitting on a sofa in the middle of the shop ""making-out"" and full out groping each other, while costumers where IN the store! The owner (Eddie, as I recall) was there, and didn't say a word. It was very unprofessional and down right discusting. And what about the owner himself? He's not any nicer than his rude employees. Horrable cigars, horrable selection, and horrable service. Not recommended at all. Cons: Made me appreciate real tobacco shops! more
