Tapino's Kitchen and Wine Bar is OUTRAGEOUS!!! 12/7/2008

This place is awesome! Two years ago, we were visiting Scottsdale on vacation. As lovers of good food and wine, we noticed Tapino and walked to the door to peek inside. The media manager, Wendy, opened the door and invited us inside, even though she knew we'd already eaten elsewhere. \r \r It was her kindness that brought us back to Tapino. Now that we live in the area, we've been back many times with friends and visitors who never stop talking about the wonderful dining experience. \r \r The food is creative, and delicious with unbelievable pairings of the best wine list in the valley. The creativity of owner and Executive Chef James and his staff, who glide around the kitchen creating the eloquent offerings of flavors that burst in your mouth with every bite, is unsurpassed in quality and taste. \r \r We've never been disappointed. The well informed staff who know every detail about the menu items, and which wine to select with the offering . . . right down to the young man who refills the water glass . . . are helpful, warm, and friendly. It's just like being with family. The ambiance is delightful, and the food is downright delectable!\r \r If you haven't been to this restaurant, you owe it to yourself to make a reservation. We love it, and can't wait to go back again! Carolyn Hughey Pros: It's a win-win with this restaurant Cons: I honestly cannot tell you any cons. We've been here several times and have never been disappointed. more

Not your typical fine dining 7/27/2008

My wife and I were turned on to trying out Topino by a colleague?s recommendation. She was absolutely correct in that the food in extraordinary. The menu does not consist of traditional main courses, but rather many different appetizer type courses. It is definitely high-end gourmet prepared to perfection. The atmosphere is nice, service is good, our waiter knowledgeable, especially in wines, which I would expect from a fine dining establishment. The wine list is extensive, and includes unusual hard to get wines. Our waiter had recommended a 2004 Musar Cuvee Rough from the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon. This exceptional wine can easily be mistaken for a fine French Bordeaux. The courses range roughly from $6 to $15 each. You will probably want to order three selections per person since they are ?gourmet? portions. The only clincher I have with Topino is the wine prices, which are on the high side. A $50 bottle of wine in the restaurant may well be $15 at an online wine store. Wish they were more reasonable in that department. Pros: Fine dining with extraordinary food in a nice atmosphere Cons: Wine prices a bit too high more

You're Going to Want to Keep Coming Back 7/1/2008

This is the kind of place you're going to keep coming back to. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food is amazing, the service is just right. Tapino one of those places where making reservations at OpenTable online is a huge benefit. Tapino can record what food you had and which tapas or dishes you want to have again the next time you visit. Not only that, my favorite bottle of wine is ready for me when I come in, and I earn points when I reserve online so that I can eat there again for free. Doesn't get any better than that! Pros: Great food, great atmosphere Cons: It can get busy more

Wonderful local restaurant supporting the community 6/8/2008

I was lucky enough to attend Fancy Feast, a spectacular fund-raising dinner arranged by Paw Placement at Tapino! I was very impressed with the tapas, they kept bringing more & more out! Each course was great, the atmosphere was fun, the waitstaff was courteous & kept the glasses full. In addition to the great food, a wonderful silent auction and raffle was held to raise money for animal rescue. Thank you, Tapino, for hosting this great event & giving back to the community. I will recommend your restaurant to everyone!\r BeckyD. more

Tapino Wine Bar & Kitchen is my new ?favorite? restaurant 5/15/2008

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tapino Wine Bar & Kitchen. The experience was absolutely wonderful. I critique a restaurant on the following:\r \r >Food ? taste, presentation, creativity and use of ingredients\r >Service ? level of sophistication of the sever, knowledge of the menu, and attention to my needs\r >Atmosphere ? quality of flatware, stemware, and overall ambiance\r \r Tapino Wine Bar & Kitchen delivered high quality gourmet tapas that were succulent, chic, and innovative. I would compare the quality of my meal with Binkley?s, Methode, Vincent?s on Camelback, or Sophie?s Bistro ? but at a much better value. If you?re a foodie like me you want to sample the entire menu. At Tapino Wine Bar & Kitchen you can! The prices are very reasonable and portions are small but satisfying. \r \r Tapino Wine Bar & Kitchen also has a covered patio/ lounge. It?s great to be able to take your drink outside after the meal and schmooze with the Chef. If you are in Phoenix, visiting or a resident I challenge you to find a better restaurant to patron.\r \r Tapino Wine Bar & Kitchen is my new ?favorite? restaurant. I am going to be dining there again tonight? Pros: value Cons: none! more

Best food and atmosphere 2/12/2008

WOW! What a great place to relax, taste wine and try some fun food! My wife and I stopped in after a friend told us we have to check it out, and we loved every minute. The service was excellent, the food was mazing and we felt at home immediately. We know a lot about wine, and were impressed with the wine list. This is a great place to have dinner for two or meet a bunch of friends. We're regulars now!\r Pros: Loved the service and the at home feeling when we walk in the door more

Great food, bad experience 9/20/2007

So a couple weeks ago, me and my husband went to Tapino for the first time, greeted by and older woman and sat by a hostess. First off, she tried to put us in the back of the resturant on a small table, and when we asked to move to a bigger table she just about refused (the resturant was wide open). Eric took care of us, and food was fantastic. We ended our evening out with a glass of wine in the bar, and noticed the older woman who greeted us, was well on her way to drunking a glass of wine, getting louder and louder with every sip of wine. I dont know why such a resturant would have a manager work there making a scene as she did, but after seeing that we will most likely not return Pros: great food and service Cons: manager drinking at the bar more

Great Happy Hour 11/4/2006

We love this spot for dinner, and for happy hour. We try to get there every couple weeks at least.\r \r Delicious tapas, great wine selection and good prices. more

A wonderful bar and restaurant totally ruined by chain smokers. 7/22/2006

Excellent location in Scottsdale with great food, drinks and service. It's a shame that it's all ruined by smokers. Pros: Location, Food and Service Cons: First and second hand smoke more

Incredible textures, flavors, and eye candy. 7/7/2006

35th Anniversary - what to do? Where to eat? Where have we had the most fun and best food and wine ever? Well, Tapino's in Scottsdale. Yes, let's go. Fly to Scottsdale in July for dinner? Well, as long as it's both nights, OK. What a GREAT place to celebrate. Pros: The nose knows the pros - - - and the taste buds agree Cons: aint none more

I love this place! 5/24/2006

I visit AZ about twice a year and Tapinos is a place I have dinner at every time I visit! The food is wonderful and so much fun to share, and their desserts, all I can say is YUM! They offer a fantastic wine list and also have some tasty specialty cocktails. I recomend the Pinot Noir wine flight and the molten lava cake and creme brulee. Great place to take anyone whether it be your mom, date, freinds, whoever, everyone can find something to enjoy. Pros: service, food/desserts, wine flights more

Excellent Place 8/29/2005

Tapino is great! Their wine list is very well organized, and offers selections from all over the world. Our server was knowledgeable about the food and wine, and helped to make our experience memorable. We loved the food, the service, and the ambiance. We will definately be going back, regularly. Pros: Food, Great Service, Music Cons: Need Reservations more

The Best!! 6/15/2005

Just ate at Tapino. It is THE BEST ! We drank wine flights and ate all kinds of kinky little appetizers. Six of us ate and drank all evening and it only cost about $250 for everything. This could be my ""hot spot"" from now on! Pros: wine flights, great food, friendly Chef more

Cool! 6/12/2005

Tapino has the coolest wine list in town. Whoever wrote the wine descriptions is a maniac! The ""small plates"" are really cool too. I tried several things that I had heard of, but were always afraid to order. These little servings are ideal. If I don't care for it, I don't have a whole big plate to eat. It is a good way to try new things. Relaxed, informal, laid back, inexpensive, I love it Pros: cool atmosphere, great food, huge wine selection more

Fantastic Find 1/9/2005

Great new restaurant in Scottsdale. Fantastic food (try the Short Ribs, Kobi Beef, or NY Strip). Awesome tapas. I highlyrecommend it. Pros: Great food, Great Wine, Fantastic bar more

Best Ever 11/8/2004

Tapino Restaurant has the best Tapas in town. No Doubt about it! I have tried them all and haven't found a single one that isn't delicious. Wine is pretty cheap too, and the place is beautifully decorated. I had a flight of 4 wines for $17. I certainly will be going back! Pros: intimate, delicious, good value more

Romantic Restaurant 9/26/2004

My Fiance took me to Tapino last Friday night for dinner. Wow! I didn't know such a wonderful place existed in Scottsdale. We had wine flights of Rohne wines and sampled several of the Chef's small plates. The Brochetta was to die for! I had the scallops and Fred had the seared tuna. Was certainly the best restaurant meal we've had in months. We shared a chocolate lave cake for desert. Why hasn't anyone reviewed this place? It is wonderful. Pros: romantic, exciting dishes, affordable more

Distributer Liason 9/25/2004

I travel up from Tucson weekly for business and just discovered Tapino on Shea. What a delightful place. It will be my new venue for entertaining clients. I need a festive place to loosen people up and then a quiet corner to conduct business. Tapino is perfect! The bar & wine counter are active and friendly. Then, the dining area is quite cozy. The food is varied and very good. Something for everyone. Pros: small plates, service more
