Good food, terrible service 11/5/2010

Tasty food, silly decor, and terrible service. Slow, indifferent, noisy, and inept staff. Included 20% gratuity for party of two with no warning. Hostess didn't ask for our name, took 15 minutes to take our order, and the manager threw silverware into a plastic bin for more than 10 minutes. Tight seating, prepare to have staff rear ends in your face. Limited English skills with some staff, almost no tact with everyone else. Takeout only if you must eat here. more

Would never go back 10/20/2010

Dirty, disgusting, almost unusable bathrooms and even a slight odor of urine in the dining room were the first signs that we may have decided on the wrong place for dinner. The appetizers were dumbed-down, American versions of Indian food - lacking depth in flavor and cloying. The entree chicken vindaloo was passable but not anything special. I'd rather pay more at The Bombay Club or Rasika...this place is like Indian fast food. more

Bad service - only worth it for takeout 8/12/2010

Tandoori Nights has interesting decor and their channa masala, dal, breads and biryanis are decent. But I stopped going there after two visits where the service was terrible (but staff seemed to have no idea how bad it was). The worst was Valentine's Day--a busy night, I know, but they had a prix fixe menu and lots of servers. They were so disorganized that they forgot to bring us 2 out of 3 dishes (until we reminded them repeatedly) and it took them a full hour to bring us any food at all. Next I went there on an ordinary night and ordered something simple--channa masasla and roti--but 15-20 minutes after taking our order, our confused-looking server came out and said "What was it you ordered? Dum aloo and naan?" more
