I've been a Tan It All member for several years, and had no problems with their other locations. But the Pflugerville location is another story. The staff there are very young high-school age girls who are not properly trained and simply don't care about their job (or your skin - all they want is your money).
I go about once a week to maintain my tan and do 15 minutes each time. Today, I walked in for my usual 15 minute session, and about halfway thru, I noticed I was getting really hot, the bulbs seemed to be a lot hotter than normal. When I got out of the tanning bed, I asked the bored-looking high school girl at the front counter (who was too busy watching American Idol to be bothered with me) if the bulbs had recently been replaced. Her answer?
"Yeah, they're brand new...how do you like them?"
I asked her WHY ON EARTH she didn't warn me that the bulbs were new BEFORE putting me in the bed (this is customary, for your protection and for the salon's legal protection). She just shrugged at me and said, "oh, sorry."
I said, "are you aware that a second-degree sunburn causes permanent skin damage?"
"Oh, really?" She replied, popping her chewing gum. It was almost closing time and she wanted to go home, I guess to watch more American Idol.
I then asked, "are you aware that you can be sued for doing what you just did?"
That's when her facial expression changed. I think she just realized she was fired. Still, firing one careless employee doesn't help, because EVERY employee at this salon is equally careless. The beds and fans are always dirty, it does not seem sanitary to me at all. And they just don't care. These girls are more interested in the commission they'll make off selling you a $60 bottle of tanning lotion.
So much for customer service. So much for safety. If you value your skin, do NOT go to this salon. I'm burned to a crisp and in so much pain right now I can't even move. The damage is permanent. I wonder what part of "permanent" this girl fails to understand?
OK, OK, she's only 15....maybe PERMANENT is too big of a word for her.
