In Short
Native Angelenos (yes, they exist) may not make much of sandwiches, but East-Coast-transplants used to that special kind of meat-stacked-to-there sub can rejoice: This corner deli is the real deal. It's the brainchild of the same owner who serves Little Italy-esque Italian at Delancey and Lower East Side style-burgers and beer at Bowery. The walkup bodega offers made-to-order classics like pastrami and rye, turkey and swiss, meatball parmesan and sausage and grilled peppers. The come-with-ingredients list is long--mayo, mustard AND Italian dressing--and any modification must be disclosed upfront. Lighter salads are available, but these aren't puny portions. Choose from heaping helpings of house-specialty tuna, chicken, potato and macaroni salads, or order a custom creation from an ingredients list that rivals a Farmer's Market lineup: wild arugula, radish, pine nuts and aged gorgonzola are among the countless options.
