The Scene
Taka Sushi is a small, family-owned restaurant best known for its lengthy sushi happy hours. Stop by during one of these magic moments and you'll find patrons crowded around the little sushi bar, taking advantage of discounts on raw octopus, squid, salmon and tuna. For the unaccustomed, posters and placards identify different types of sea creatures. Sumo wrestling fans can often catch a bout on the wide-screen TV.
The Food
Those who haven't acquired a taste for sushi can choose from the menu of cooked Japanese dishes, but only the teriyaki salmon and sukiyaki beef really stand out. The tempura can be a bit on the greasy side. No meal is complete without plum wine or Japanese beer to help take the bite out of the strangely addictive wasabi, the neon-green horseradish mix enjoyed by the slightly masochistic.
