Bad: Why aren't they helping DeKalb county dogs who need homes? Why do they only get their pets from out of state? Their board found a way around the "non-profit" laws and no one sees this. They open a day care, a groomer and vet to monopolize the other area businesses and keep the profits for themselves NOT the dogs and cats.. Improvements: I want to know where all of these puppies come from? We know they get a lot from Oklahoma, but where? There own puppy mill? They seem to have a lot of puppies and kittens and turn down local people who have hardships and can't keep their older dogs. They know the money is in puppies.. Other: People should realize where their money is actually going and put it into shelters that have been in the county for years actually helping DEKALB County animals and animals in ILLINOIS. I'm all for helping the animals and people who care for them, as long as it is honest and not a money-making scheme that scams people and puts other area professionals out of business.. more

TAILS is an incredibly great place for homeless pets to wait for adopters. They're healthy, spay/neuter, up-to-date shots, healthy, & temperament tested. Staff knowledgeable, kind and really know the pets. Can tell they love the pets. Great adoption fees! Cats over 6 months only $25. Special fee for dogs older than 6. Many purebred pets. Hi everyone. I would like to be the first to say that I love Tails in De Kalb, IL. I am a volunteer there, I have been a volunteer for about 2 months and I love the atmosphere and the friendliness of all who works there. Recently, I adopted a 3-month young kitten who, is very happy and energetic. His name was Cinder, but I changed it to Izzy. Anyway, if you are in the area, I would strongly advise you to come check out the center, it's surrounded with full of love and loving pets. more

T.a.i.l.s. is located on Barber Greene Road - kind of behind Wal-mart. They have all types of animals there for adoption, cats, dogs, and small animals. The faculity is very clean and tidy, they have junior volunteers that come in on a daily bases to do the cleaning of the animals and socializing of them. The staff and volunteers are for the most part very friends and willing to help you find a pet that you want. There are social rooms that you can take the animal in that you like to interact with them to see you two get along. The adoption fees are very low ($125.00 per animal and second one at half the cost) condsidering what you get for it - the animals have all been spaded or neutered, shots up to date, dewormed, micro chip, socialized with many people and kids. The one down fall with the shelter is the hours open for adoption, Mon, Tues, Thrus. Friday - 12 - 6 and Sat & Sun 12-5. Which makes it very hard to get there if you work anywhere past 5:00. more
