The hardest part of a visit to jimmy wan?s taipei is deciding what to eat. The menu has so many good choices that we always seem to over-order by at least one dish. A group of four is perfect because you can taste a wider selection as most dishes are perfect to share. If you're dining as a couple you'll have to make some hard decisions. But you really can't go wrong in our experience. We've dined there three times and sampled probably 15 apps/sushi rolls and entrees. We've never had a disappointment. Kung pao filet mignon, tuna tataki, volcano roll, crispy prawns szechuan style, and spicy Cantonese noodles are top-notch. There are a couple of smaller things that will keep us coming back also: the food always seems to arrive promptly and hot, straight from the kitchen as Asian food should, amazing fresh sushi; and the restaurant really succeeds on the details: the rice is top quality, the service is friendly in a way you don't always find at Asian restaurants, and the wine and sake list compliments the cuisine perfectly. On one visit, we forgot our doggy bag and cell phone, the manager had one of his friendly staff drop them off at our house. Where can you find service like that? We're fans.
Pros: fresh sushi, prompt service, excellent cocktails
Cons: parking can be tough on weekends, bar is crowded during happy hour
