not sure if a dive atmosphere is a con - considering it's kinda cool. I just love this place. taco's with guac and a cold beer. What could be better? Pros: healthy, fresh and tasty Cons: dive atmosphere more

They can't fool me 1/4/2010

As a Die-hard enthusiast of authentic Mexican food, I can say that I was thoroughly disappointed. This is a watered down, Americanized misrepresentation of culture similar to chipotle or la salsa/baja fresh. Perhaps the most bland, least seasoned beef and chicken ive ever payed 3 dollars a taco for.... and the surplus of cream and guacamole did not comprimise. I strongly advise mexican food lover's similar to my self to stick to places like Gilbert's El Indio and Pancho's Tacos. -Mexican food lover Cons: Pricey, Bland, Unfair Portions, and lack of authenticity. more

This place SUCK'ETH 11/4/2009

I went here due to repeated suggestions by my one friend. I couldn't have had a worse experience. First off, the line at this place is ridiculously long for sub-par food. Second, the line snakes between tables, leading, inevitably, to people bumping your chair or arm, as they pass you by. Being LA, nobody knows how to say, ""Oh, sorry I bumped ya, man."" Thirdly, the sopes were a mess and the tacos held together with the integrity of a wet paper towel. Gross. I left this place bloated and unhappy. The rice was mushy and the beans tasted like they were pulled from a can. Why people think this place is so great, I have NO clue. I'd rather eat at Baja Buds or La Playita, ANY DAY. I want my money and the time I wasted in line BACK. Pros: People watching Cons: Low quality food, Absurd lines, Bloatfest, Parking Challenge more

If you love chorizo, do yourself a favor and head to this place for their chorizo and cheese taco's. LOVE IT! 10/21/2008

Tacos Por Favor is definitely no friday night date restaurant, but it is the perfect lunch or casual dinner option. It is especially perfect after a long salty, sandy, sweaty day at the beach. It is the only thing worth eating after surfing for 10 hours. The carnitas tacos are amazing. The vegetables are fresh. The service is lightening fast. If you want good Mexican, with a nod towards less fattening and healthy preparation, TPF is your place. Pros: Good Food. Fast Service. Health Conscious Mexican. Casual Atmosphere. more

Good Food, Good People 7/17/2008

Tacos Por Favor was the perfect lunch spot after a full morning of surf lessons in Santa Monica. Hunger pains had kicked in and we were ready to chow down on tacos, burritos, chips and salsa! There's something about a casual, neighborhood joint that has reliable, good food that makes you want to keep that business around, i.e. by writing a review for it. I'm a no-fuss kind of person and I like a no-fuss kind of dining experience when we're talking post-beach day. The space is light and large, almost picnic-y. The food is fast, tasty, and settles well, if you know what I mean. And the people are smiling, generous, community-oriented, and accommodating. This week, I want to try more than just the chicken tacos and bean and cheese burritos...I've heard the chorizo tacos are where it's at...I'll be sure to update y'all. Definite Good Quick Mexican 4/22/2008

I had always driven by this place but actually walked through the door for the first time last week. For all intents and purposes, the place is a hole-in-the-wall bustling with yuppies who occupy the office buildings and industrial parks in the surrounding area. The menu is pretty drawn out but fairly simple once you break down the cateogories...burritos, tacos, tortas, quesadillas etc. I had the Chile Relleno Burrito which I had never seen before on a menu but was fantastic for fast Mexican food. The food was served at the perfect temperature, the service was with a smile and best of all it won't put a dent in your pocket. Forget Chipotle and Baja (Not So) Fresh. This place sh*ts on both. more

This place shames Baja Fresh and La Salsa. This place is legit down home mex, and is as authentic as it gets in Santa Monica. Great food for a Great Price 1/5/2007

This place has great food and serves pretty big and filling portions. I always make the mistake of ordering too much food because the prices are so cheap. Stick with a combo plate or a burrito plate and you're set for a good meal. The service is fast even when there's a good crowd, so it's perfect if you've only got an hour to spare for lunch - Pros: burritos, taco plates, pico de gallo, good food, cheap, quick service more

Great Find in Mexican Food on the Westside! 6/27/2005

Tacos Por Favor is definitely a gem on the westside. They serve up some serious food for Mexican food lovers. The menu consists of the usual...........tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas. The shrimp tacos are absolutely outstanding...........loaded with medium sized shrimp. They're an absolute bargain for $3 a piece. I also tried the carne asada burrito (~$ 4.50), which was as good as any taquiria's I've had in town. I'd definitely recommend Tacos Por Favor to any food lover looking for a great bargain in Santa Monica. You can also wash your food down with a cold horchata! I just wish they were open later! Best Mexican Food in LA served by great people 3/30/2005

Tacos Por Favor is owned by the Sanchez family who put a lot into this resturant. Their dedication shows in the quality food, fast service, a large delicious portions of hot, tasty food they serve, not to mention the fresh salsa and creative recipies such as the spinich burrito. Best fish tacos I've ever had 4/3/2003

My boyfriend works near this place, so he happened in, and he said I had to try it, so I did. It's in a strange industrial part of Olympic, but the tacos are seriously incredible. Fresh mahi mahi soft tacos are to die for. Wow! You've got to try them. Also the steak and the shrimp tacos are great, too. If youre in this area, go! more

Really Good 6/20/2002

I've driven by this place a zillion times, as I work in the neighborhood, but somehow just didn't think it was probably all that great, given the neighborhood. A friend that I work with told me it was great, so I gave it a try. I was not dissapointed in the least, and now am a regular several times a week for lunch. I haven't tried anything other than the tacos, which are so good I can't seem to order anything else. I definitely recommend the chorizo or carnitas tacos-they're out of this world. more
