Best

A month ago my husband and I went on a walking date (we live on Capitol Hill) and strolled into Table 219 for the first time. We had such a GREAT meal and I was so pleasantly sur...

If you are a female, and dining alone at night, the restaurant manager will try to seat you back in the hinterlands in the bar instead of at a table. Looking around, you'll see a...

I usually hate lamb 10/10/2005

There are three things one must know about lamb: 1) It's too cute to eat, really. 2) I think it's usually to oily and gamey/""weird"" 3) I love the lamb dishes at El Greco. Enough that I commonly make the mistake of ordering lamb at other places. If you have an adventurous, yet focussed and self-aware, palette, El Greco will suit you just fine. Oh, and their wine is half-off on tuesday nights. Pros: food, service, price Cons: it's a little chilly more

Great omelette. 9/16/2005

We were seated quickly and our waitress was very friendly. At a friend's request, they made the eggs benedict without the canadian bacon, although this was only possible because the bacon was late to arrive that day. I had the avocado and pepper jack omelette with sour cream and pico de gallo. It was delicious and came with rosemary potatoes and sourdough toast. The toast wasn't great, but everything else was wonderful. It was relatively cheap as well. I would go back. more

Best Kept Secret in Seattle for Years 6/3/2005

El Greco has been a favorite for at least 10 years - the best kept dining secret in town. Forget paying a fortune at the upscale restaurants - the food at El Greco always surpasses the finest dining establishments at a fraction of the price. The owners are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. Stephanie deserves ""Server of the Decade"" as she is the best in town. Go to El Greco - you will be stunned at how excellent it is and kick yourself for not having been there before. Pros: Best Service, Amazing Food, Friendly Staff more

Best French Toast 5/18/2005

I've never had anything at El Greco I didn't like, but after having their French Toasts for brunch, I'm hooked. I've tried other places but nothing compares to theirs. Absolutely the best! Pros: friendly, great food, great service more

Found a little Jewel 4/15/2005

One of the best kept secrets of Seattle 5/11/2004

Absolutely the best experience. Best kept secret of Seattle dining. Wonderful food and service. Order their Vegetarian Combo for an appetizer, then proceed with either an order of truly heavenly Moussaka or one of many other delicious choices. more

An Undiscovered Gem on Broadway! 8/2/2003

I was lucky enough to be introduced to this place by an 'insider' and am I glad! The food is excellent more of an upscale Mediterranean fusion than true greek, this place has a perfect mix of menu items with fantastic prices. The owners have really hit the mark and the place reflects the time and care they both put into the place- it positively glows with elegance. Make sure you hit the happy hour (M-F 4-6) for half price appetizers and try one of their amazing drinks. And don't miss the outstanding brunch on weekends! Pros: Food is fantastic, Prices are great, Atmosphere rocks! Cons: none! more

I'm never disappointed at El Greco: the service is friendly and fun, the food is excellent and creative, the prices are good (and there's half price wine on Tuesday!). Great place for a date or with a ffriend or 2. Pros: great food, friendly more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Local art adorns the aqua-blue walls, setting the informal Mediterranean mood somewhere between cafe and bistro. Service is very friendly, but servers can be a bit overwhelmed...
