Best

I can't say enough great things about this place. Open 24 hours and appointments into the evening and over there weekend is beyond convenient and helpful for those who work a lot ...

Worst

They might as well take down the Veterinary Hospital sign and replace it with one that reads Exxon. All they care about is what else they can put on your credit card... little c...

Wouldn't take my dog anywhere else 3/11/2011

I have to defend TLC from the previous negative review. I have taken my dog here for over four years, and have received nothing but compassionate, thorough care through every visit - emergency and otherwise. My dog had a gruesome accident with very serious injuries, and TLC was totally proactive in their care - they pre-arranged the surgical team and took care of my dog with kid gloves until the consult. The doctors are very professional and knowledgeable. I have asked them a million questions and they have been able to answer all of them. Unlike some other veterinarians (cold, clinical, unemotional), the vets at TLC actually give a ***t about their patients. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else in town. I don't even live in WeHo, but I make the trip to TLC to ensure he has quality vet care. more

Very Sweet & Gentle 3/9/2011

The doctor was very informative with her diagnosis, and she was also very sweet and gentle with him which made me very happy. She even cleaned his ears out for us because she saw he had a little bit of wax in them which I thought was very nice of her. Simba is just a fidgety cat around people he doesn't know, and he took a liking to her which I thought was a good sign. The veterinary assistant that gave Simba his shot was also gentle, and was nice to him as well. He hissed at her though when she tried to put him in his carrier, but that was because he hates being in his carrier. more

Thank you TLC 3/7/2011

I am disappointed in so many negative reviews of TLC. TLC and Dr. Feldman have saved the life of my beautiful Great Dane. My regular vet was unable to diagnose her after having several long bouts of diarrhea. My beautiful hound was down to 94 pounds when my other vet FINALLY referred me to Dr. Feldman. My previous vet said he did not have high hopes for her survival, and there were a few days when she could barely walk across the room. I took her to Dr. Feldman, who specializes in internal medicine, and after some exploratory surgery, he put her on a combination of meds that has saved her life. 9 months later she now weighs 130 pounds and is happy as a clam. TLC is not inexpensive. However, they know how to handle a seriously ill dog. I cannot thank them enough nor can I recommend them highly enough to someone who has a dog in dire condition. They are always prompt, I have never waited more than 15 minutes, they always have my meds ready when they say they will and Dr. Feldman ALWAYS returns my calls and has time to address my concerns. Thank you TLC. more

Compassionate staff 2/2/2011

My little puppy came to me with a mouth full of blood late at night and we raced to TLC as it was the closest 24-hour Vet to my house. Immediately, I was greeted by an incredibly compassionate staff, ?Bob my puppy just loved the vet tech and was not scared AT ALL (as he is by other vets) , and within moments the vet came out. He told me that Bob cracked a baby tooth which caused the bleeding and though he could have charged me for an exam, instead he answered my questions and sent me on my way home with a happy puppy. Most vets would have charged the fee, as I have learned... So, I can't review their service as daytime vets YET, but for 24 hour emergencies in LA, ?TLC will be on my speed dial in West Hollywood. more

Kind and spoiling! 1/21/2011

TLC's staff are kind, compassionate, loving, caring, doting, spoiling and all around great. They know me and my pets name, the doctors (oh? Dr. Baker and Dr. Herbert) are lovely! more

The hospital of choice 1/14/2011

I've had 2 situations in the past 6 months that have necessitated a visit to TLC. They are open 24/7 which determined TLC as the hospital of choice. One visit was @ 6 AM and the other on a Sunday of a holiday weekend. Having a 24/7, local option for emergency pet care earns them a higher rating overall. more

Extremely patient and caring 1/11/2011

I don't know how other peoples' experiences differed so much from mine, but I tried several vets for my dog before ultimately settling on TLC. They are a bit pricey, but the vets, technicians, and office staff have always been extremely patient, caring, and helpful on every one of my visits, whether it was a routine checkup or late-night emergency paw stitching. Also, I have insurance for my dog with VPI, and if you bring in a claim form they fill everything out and fax it in for you -- so it's no hassle at all, and helps offset the cost a bit. I'm neurotically overprotective when it comes to my dog, and I always feel like he is in good hands at TLC -- plus, they give me constant status updates, which help with MY separation anxiety! more

Nothing but good experiences 1/11/2011

While TLC does run on the expensive side, I have had nothing but good experiences here. I've been bringing my dog to TLC, specifically to Dr. Hiebert, for the past 7 years. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to take care of my dog. A couple years back my little guy had a mast cell tumor on his hind leg and Dr. Hiebert removed it perfectly. He even called himself after the surgery to tell us how it went and joyously called to tell us that all the cancer had been removed when the results were back from the lab. While they do tend to suggest a lot of different tests and solutions that can run up a tab, if you say you'd rather wait or keep the bill low my experience has been that they are very supportive of this. Dr. Hiebert never makes me feel like a bad dog parent for holding off on treatments if they are not dire. (Though, in the end, he's usually right!) more

That was amazing 1/7/2011

It has been a while but... I only went there one time. It was a weekend and my vet was closed. My dog sailor was breathing and panting weird while i was at my friends house visiting. SO just in case there was something wrong i took her to TLC to check her out. They took her and examined her and there was nothing wrong so they DID NOT even charge me.. I thought that was amazing. Plus everyone there was really nice. Anyway i had a positive experience there so i thought i should leave a review. more

A huge benefit 1/6/2011

We like to take out dogs here. It is close to us and there is a huge benefit in that they also do 24/7 care if something were to happen. I feel a lot more comfortable taking my pets to a place that knows them and has their full set of records (not something you can always grab during an emergency) for my pets which is very helpful for treatment. I like the assurances that they treat my pet no matter what. Also, for prescriptions they direct me to the discount websites and give me an accurate timeline of how far in advance to order so that the script has time to get there. more

Very knowledgeable 1/3/2011

I took my very sick older cat here a few days ago, and I'm glad I did. Unfortunately, she had to be put to sleep, but Dr. Ed Hsu was very compassionate and patient with answering all of the countless questions I had in detail. He explained her illness in detail, discussed the options with me, and helped me weigh the decision of taking her home to pass away in peace or have her put to sleep in a pain-free manner. All of the staff were very professional and friendly, and seemed to be trained in the proper way to treat a person like me, who was blubbering uncontrollably from beginning to end. The facility is clean, and all of the staff seemed very knowledgeable, especially Dr. Hsu, so I feel like I got the level of service and expertise that I paid for. I've had cats and dogs all of my life, and therefore have been to some bad vets, but this isn't one of them. There was also another customer in the reception area with an injured dog who was getting a lot of attention and seemed very satisfied. To top it all off, I received a very sweet bereavement card today signed by several of the staff, many of whom even wrote kind messages in addition to signing. Thank you TLC, and I'll definitely be returning with my dog and cats. more

You are a blessing 1/3/2011

Thanks to Dr. Baker and all the wonderful people at TLC Pet Medical Center for all the wonderful surgical work done on Diego! I'm so thankful for you working with PAWS LA to help him get well again so he can get back to running and playing. You are a blessing to all the pets and owners. more

Excellent vet and nice staff 12/30/2010

This is the vet I've used twice for emergencies, and they have been very good. The last time I went in, they took my dog right away. The staff was very nice, the vet was excellent. We eventually figured out what was wrong with my little guy (do NOT use Tea Tree oil on your dog! Even though it is in many flea products, even a dab of it in it's straight undiluted form can poison your dog!). My baby is all better now. more

TLC the only vet 12/29/2010

I have a 21 year old cat named Tigger. My other vet told me she had hyperthyroidism and to schedule her for a teeth cleaning. We were concerned because Tigger is so old and frail. A friend recommended TLC vet and we went in for a second opinion. The doctor was wonderful and in looking at Tigger's teeth she noticed to tumors on left side of her mouth. We had it biopsied. and it turns out that my precious Tigger has cancer. The other vet didn't even notice the obvious tumors. I don't care how much I pay, we got some answers and unfortunately, sadly we are going to send Tiggie to heaven so she will not suffer. I have one other cat and Raleigh is going to go to TLC vet from now on. more

Nothing but great experiences 12/28/2010

I've had nothing but great experiences at TLC. Yes they can be expensive but they usually ask you to ok the expenses. If there is a test that is not mandatory at the time, I ask and they put it off. If it's mandatory, I'll do it. Dr. Mahaney is stellar with a vast knowledge of alternative medicine. He is kind and specific in dealing with humans and loving in dealing with pets. Dr. Baker is sweet, professional and has been so helpful to my pets. Dr. Hebert did surgery on my dog's spleen and it was an expert job. I've heard many other vets praise his skill as a surgeon. The staff has been wonderful as well. more

Very caring and informed staff 12/27/2010

TLC has a very caring and informed staff. They called me immediately with test results. Dr. Baker was very caring and attentive to my shy rescue dog and the staff is always very nice and helpful when I call with questions. more

Very impressive 12/24/2010

I recently visited Los Angeles from Tucson, AZ. My 15 year old dog had seizures for the first time ever. We rushed him to TLC PET MEDICAL CENTER where they treated him immediately and kept him for 2 days. I was extremely comforted by the care and compassion of the staff and doctors. Their knowledge and professionalism was very impressive. They contacted my vet in Tucson and did timely follow-ups I cannot imagine a better experience at such a frightening time. I am so thankful that I found them. more

Warm and caring staff 12/22/2010

Great with my puppy! I have been 3 times now and every time I have had minimal wait time. I truly believe my little guy is being given the best treatment available. I have even had to take him there when he had an emergency and he was seen in about 45 minutes. I am truly thankful to their warm and caring staff that have given such good care to my little one. Much thanks to Dr. Mahaney he is truly a caring soul! more

The best care 12/20/2010

When we brought our Golden Retriever into the family, we searched high and low across LA for a great veterinarian. The recommendations we received were from scores of pet owners that have entrusted their animal's care to TLC West Hollywood, specifically Dr. Baker. After just over a year of experience with TLC, I can safely state that the good reputation they have in the community is well deserved. All of the vets are good, but Dr. Howie Baker and Dr. Mark Heibert are the two I have direct experience with and the two that I feel most comfortable with when our dog needs care... she gets into everything, from fighting with venomous spiders to eating Christmas ornaments to unfortunately being involved in a fire - every time, TLC has done an excellent job. Dogs become like kids and you want the best care. For us, that is TLC. more

EXCELLENT 12/15/2010

I went to TLC on a Sunday night after my puppy had been vomiting and couldn't keep food down to make sure he was okay, because I didn't know what was going on with him. Fortunately, everything turned out to be fine and he was suffering from an upset stomach. That night Little Action Jackson received EXCELLENT medical attention from the staff and vet who were on duty. They gave him a physical exam, took blood and did x-rays to make sure nothing was blocking his intestines/digestive track - AND they even said he was playing with them in the treatment room :) Needless to say, I see that there have been a lot of bad experiences/reviews at TLC, BUT my little guy received great care and everyone was super nice! more
