Our son is going into 7th grade and six months ago he could barely read. His Dad thought he was lazy, but I believed it was something else. We had tried everything from flash cards to summer school to taking away everything in an attempt to get him to read. Nothing worked. At last, we took him to Sylvan and within weeks his attitude towards reading changed. Within 6 months he was well above grade level and was reading for pleasure. The staff and teachers really cared about our son.Sylvan can be expensive, but they also have affordable programs. more

Nice Presentation, Nasty Performance 4/7/2009

The only way to get a discount on this outrageously high tutoring service is to pay in advance and there is no way to get your money back!\r \r The kids are NOT given one on one attention, it is loud, and distracting in the study room. By the way, it is small as well. Don't waste your money, hire a college student instead! more

Get your money's worth! 9/20/2005

Sylvan is an extremely expensive learning center, but they do work well. They tought a friend of mine about 4 reading levels in a matter of months, but not without a bit of money. They are very helpful, and host a large array of great educators in order to help your student succeed. Bottom line, if you have the money and need the help, they are a good choice. more
