Three months after moving into our three year old home the alarm sounded on our sump pump. Co workers recommended Sweet's...they came out and said we needed an upgraded sump pump, something with more power. A year and a half later, the sump pump alarm sounded again, and once again we called Sweet's. The techinican spent a few minutes checking the plugs..unplugging and plugging it in again, ran water, flushed the toilet a time or two and said that the float was probably temporarily stuck, which is common and happens from time to time. The charge...$86.25 for the service charge and $25.00 fuel charge. According to mapquest 8.49 miles from their shop to my house. I am wondering if we really needed a new sump pump in the first place ( do they make them lower than 1/2 horsepower?) And if we encounter any other plumbing issues...I think we will shop around first. $111.25 to drive out here, flush my toilet a time or two and run some water certainly wasn't worth it to me.
