Great sushi, great service 10/29/2006

It is a very small restrant but has lots of options on its menu. Even if your not a sushi lover it has great, genuine Japanese cuisine. The food is amazing. The sushi is very fresh and prepared by very talented chefs. It is expensive to an extent. you should plan on spening around $12 a person at the least. The food is definately good quality so the prices are very reasonable. It is one on my favorite places to eat. The atmosphere is nice and cozy but still elegant. They do carry out also and it is wonderful as well. I love this place! Pros: food, price, service Cons: not good for big groups more

Sushi Tsune - best in Raleigh 1/23/2006

The best sushi restaurant in Raleigh is Sushi Tsune. Maybe Sushi Tsune is not as trendy, new or sophisticated as the other restaurants in the area but the food is truly authentic Japanese. I've always seen more Japanese people eat here than at other sushi joints in town. The nigiri sushi is the right size and fresh. Tsunesan makes the best cured mackerel sushi and the rolls are delicious and not over priced. Great cooked dishes include the nabeyaki udon and broiled mackerel dinner. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly sushi master more

Disappointed 12/15/2005

I've eaten at Sushi Tsune a few times. The sushi/food is acceptable and fairly timely. Nonetheless, my last will truly be my last. Where do I start? First of all, the waitress was flippant from the get go. Secondly she got my order wrong and my Girlfriend's meal showed up easily 10+ minutes later. The waitress apologized for the mistakes and explained it was her first day. Considering I saw her every visit previously, I knew she was bold face lying. When my GF's meal arrived her soup spoon smelled STRONGLY of bleach. We requested another that ended up having the same affliction. Which leads me to be suspect of whats going on behind the scenes. I've worked food service and a smell like that indicates improper cleaning/rinsing. Sushi Blues may not be my scene, but the service is friendly and the food and sushi aren't bad either. Pros: acceptable food Cons: Rude Staff more

Best Place in Triangle 3/16/2004

This sushi joint may be small BUT you will NEVER find better sushi in the triangle. Tsunesan is a wonderful sushi chef and full of helpful suggestions for first-timers as well as conditioned sushi eaters. You are crazy not to even try this place. Blows cheap sushi thai and sushi blues out of the water!!! Make sure to ask for the bahama roll, 700, and squid salad.....YUM!!! Pros: Incredible sushi, great staff, yummy ama ebi! more

The Best 1/4/2004

I believe that this is the best sushi around, I have visited other places and found that the service and food is the best at Tsune's Pros: Great service, Tsune, the chef, Great rolls more

Jeckel and Hyde 9/6/2003

I've been to this restaurant lots of times, and when the food and service are good, they are very very good...and when they are bad they are horrid. The last time I went, I was served not-too-fresh salmon sashimi. When I complained that it was spoiled, they told me it was fresh, and that I could not send it back or have it taken off the bill. That's enough to keep me from coming back!. Pros: food (when it's good), price, parking Cons: food (when it's bad), service more

average sushi 11/4/2002

I've been trying different sushi restaurants around the are and came across this japanese looking building and gave it a try. The service was lackluster but the chefs wer pretty energetic. The sushi rice was plain and a bit hard, the fish were good but the two just didn't go well together. I'll propably try it again sometimes but the first impression was a 5 out of 10... Pros: authentic looking Cons: need more flavour, small more

Neighborhood Sushi at its best 9/20/2002

A great small sushi place that serves in the traditional box, has daily meal specials and the best and most unusual sushi in the area. Everyone is treated great and the service is always fast. They also have some of the most unusual sushi in the area. Get to know the sushi chef and ask about some of his specialties and you'll be in for a treat. more

Intimate and Great! 9/11/2002

So-so sushi 7/12/2002

This is a cute little free-standing restaurant that looks like a fast-food joint on the outside and a clean, minimalist Japanese restaurant on the inside. The sushi was average--nothing stands out here. Service was friendly, but our server didn't know the menu at all (""um, I THINK that dish has vegetables in it...""). This doesn't rank as my favorite sushi spot by any means, but it'll do when the serious sashimi cravings hit. Pros: Nice atmosphere, Reasonably priced Cons: Inconsistent service more
