Overpriced. The combo had tuna and salmon sashimi and tuna and salmon sushi, and of course you guessed it, Cali roll with tuna in it. Oh yes a few pieces of white tuna. What a joke? This place doesn't deserve all the hype, though most of you wouldn't even realize he was laughing in the back at us. Where's the wahoo, snapper, yellowtail. Charging $35 for just tuna and salmon in various forms is absurd plus they are rude. more

A few weeks ago, a friend of ours just went on and on about the quality and freshness of the fish at Simon. Rikki and I decided to try it early one Saturday just to see how good it could be. All I can say is that we were both blown away! In fact, we now have a standing reservation every Saturday night. While in Rome a few weeks ago in the shadow of the Trevi Fountain , we both lamented that we missed our sushi night. (OK, so the melancholy didn't last long.)\r \r Sushi Simon is a small storefront in the shopping center at Woolbright and US 1 located just a few doors down from Prime Catch. With the Winn Dixie around the corner, parking has never been a problem.\r \r First, the service is top notch. If you need the traditional type of service, all of the staff are more than capable. However, if you can get Renee as your server you are really in for a treat. She took such care of us that we felt almost like family. \r \r If you want the true experience, ignore the regular menu altogether. It's got just about everything you would expect to find. One HUGE exception is the scallop appetizer which you just can't miss. The real treat is the smaller hand written daily specials. The fish is walked in from across the street where the fishing boats come in. Most of the the fish just melts in your mouth, you don't even have to waste the energy to chew. It's fun because the special menu just gives you the name of the special, there is no description. (Hint: Just tell them what you don't eat and they won't put it in) There are amazing rolls and a variety of other specials all created with true craftsmanship and made with the freshest fish in town.\r \r Most of the fresh fish selections on the small special menu can be prepared for you in a variety of ways. Have someone who doesn't care for it quite so raw? Ask for it Marimoto style and they will singe it just enough. We can't say enough about this fantastic place with great service and mouthwatering sushi.\r \r It is simply no exaggeration to say that Sushi Simon is the best sushi joint in Boynton. more

A little pricey for the amount of food you get...but there wasn't one thing that was under EXCELLENT!\r Their Special LUCY SOUP was awesome and I think I am now addicted.\r Tried it for lunch and for dinner. We liked dinner much better... the Servers were more attentive and the portions were a "little" bigger.\r Be prepared for an EXPENSIVE meal... if you want to go away feeling full. more

My husband and I will not go back. This used to be our favorite place. We had no kids and was very excited to go to our favorite sushi place. The food is delicious, a bit expensive but we wanted a treat, afterall it was date night for us. We got there at 8:00pm and the check was handed to us at 8:26pm. Somehow we managed to have $63 worth of sushi in 26 minutes! The server May brought out miso soup, shrimp dumplings and a grouper special (which alone was $22) and dumped all 3 on the table. We asked for water with our drinks and never got it, even after 3 times.\r She came back and we ordered 2 more dishes and I ordered another sake. Got the the sushi, never got my second drink and got the check. Wow! There were 2 tables when we got there, when we left a total of 5. Two female servers and a male server. The food was good but we wanted to let them know that they served everything sooo fast all at once. Well our mistake....May didn't even bother to talk to us the other female server apologized and said that is was our fault because we did not announce that we wanted slow service! How about NORMAL service! (Apparently thats what they do since a a guy walked in announced to the whole place, "I'm not staying im here for take out".) Sorry we didn't know that we had to announce something that is normal to every other restaurant. The server then proceeded to say that they are very busy and then a sushi chef, i guess it was Simon, finally showed some concern and basically said it was our fault. I am not exaggerating when I say 26 minutes! It was a horrible experience, no one seemed to care or step up to the plate! Who is running this place. I'm sorry I don't care how good the sushi is we are NOT going back. There are plently of other places just as good and with better service. I don't know about you but I prefer and expect a pleasurable dining experience when I go out. And I expect to feel welcomed! more

I made a point to go back to Sushi Simon and once again found the food and service to be excellent. I have recommend it to two friends and both emailed me afterwards to say Awesome and thank you. I look forward to going back and trying new things on the menu. more

I had heard good things about this place so I wanted to try it out. From the moment I walked in the door I had a bad feeling. You enter the restaurant and immediately you are in the middle of all the tables and people eating. It's a bit uncomfortable. There is no one to greet you or even seat you. The waitresses had no idea what was going on. The tables are on top of each other and you have no privacy. The sushi rolls are outrageously expensive and extremely small. We asked for eel sauce and they brought out literally a few drops of sauce. We asked for more and the waitress told us "We only use it sparingly. It takes Simon 6-8 hours to make it by hand." She actually used the word "sparingly". Sparingly, are you %$#@^ kidding me? I don't care if it's made by hand. We just ordered 4 rolls (over $40 worth of Sushi that would barely cost $30 at other restaurants). When the rolls came out they were very small and didn't look appetizing at all. At this point we were disgusted. We complained, sent the rolls back, paid for our wine and left. I've been to a lot of Sushi restaurants and this place is a joke. Horrible experience. Will never go back!! more

This place is fantastic! A hole-in-the wall at first glance, but the decor and staff are wonderful! We had by far the best sushi we have had EVER! The Kauii Maui role was amazing. We had one waitress who was on our table the whole night, but we had multiple other waitresses checking in on us to make sure we were taken care of-definitely a team effort and it truly was awesome. this was my first time there but its definitely not my last! more

i love sushi! and being from NY and traveling the world i've had the opportunity to sample some really terrific restaurants....sushi simon is among the best japanese restaurants i have ever been to. \r the sushi/sashimi is amazingly fresh and delightfully prepared...\r if you get a craving when only sushi will do, head over to this little spot in boynton beach. i couldn't ask for anything more (and the staff is professional and very caring)! i love it! more

This place is the best. My family, Cary, Dean and my wife Myrna have tried sushi all over the world and this is the best. We enjoy the close relationship with Lucy and Simon and they go out of there way to make you feel comfortable. The fish could not be any fresher since the husband of one of the servers is a fisherman and his catch gives you the wahoo and cobia etc that day. Love it and go there as much as we can. more

I've been eating at Sushi Simon since they opened and i find it to be the best sushi i have ever had in my entire life! They have the most unique and tasty rolls, and there is something even more special than that, perhaps it's the warm rice and the unique sauces and textures the sushi has......\r \r Sushi Simon ROCKS!!!! So does Lucy the manager and everyone else who works there! more

I never write reviews but consider myself an advocate for smaller independently owned restaurants. I never expect a free meal nor do I expect a large scene to be made because of an issue. \r \r BUT tonight (Dec. 22, 2010) I saw a hair in my "No Name Roll"... granted it was not a long piece of hair but regardless, it was a hair. We called a server over who quickly took the plate away.... note the roll was delicious... another server came back to inform me that no one could find the hair and they felt bad they could do nothing for me. \r \r Another server came to check on us (not her table) and I had her take the plate away. She quickly came back to say "I am sorry, I didn't know you were the gal that had the hair". At this time, we asked for the bill as the rest of the servers/ chefs watched from a distance. \r \r I paid the $22 for the No Name Roll (which is the most popular roll and I can see why, it really is good) along with the app and alcohol. As we walked out, we were approached by Lucy outside saying she was sorry (again) that she could not find the hair but couldn't do anything for me. \r \r \r The point is not that Sushi Simon is a bad restaurant, b/c the food I did have was delicious. The service was great until the issue was made bigger than it needed to be. The point IS that I consider myself a respectable person who loves to support small establishments but not when the Owner, Simon (who was there and never left behind the counter) and his staff continuously call me a liar and revisit the issue. As a patron, \r \r I really wish my first visit wouldn't be my last but sadly, I have no desire to ever return... I hear Lemongrass in Delray is cheaper and you get more for your buck. more

The first trip, the food was amazing and service was great. Second trip for dinner- different story. The food is good; however, a young woman with a little girl was dining w family. This woman proceeded to change her daughter's diaper AT THE TABLE! I later discovered she was a waitress there. Upon informing manager, the response was that she is free to do whatever when she is off the clock. I understand that when pple are off the clock they are free to do whatever, but I certainly wouldn't want my employee representing my restaurant this way! more

We get there and no one seats us. The server's keep walking past us, I guess they never went through training. After seating ourselves, we wait 15 minutes for a menu, another 15 for our drinks, 20 for our appetizers, 30 for the wrong order and then they come back 50 minutes later with the correct food. Sorry but we were ready to leave. The "manager" basically told us tough and there was nothing she could do. I'm sorry, who the heck hired you to run the place????? Worst experience ever. Spend your money somewhere worth it. more

I am not a big sushi person but I have to say this place was great. I took my Sushi snob friend and she said it is hands down the best sushi in south Florida. Without any hesitation we will both go back and will recommend Sushi Simon to friends. more

I have been eating sushi for a long time, and I will say that sushi simon has great food and fresh fish, however you should be wise to choose what is on the menu. The regular menu has good sushi for a good price. But if you are looking for satisfaction in taste, I would order from the special menu. The special menu is more expensive, but it is worth every dime due to the great taste of the dishes on the special menu. The sashimi is great and fresh. I love the sweet shrimp, I have went to Kyoto and a few other sushi restaurants, and their sweet shrimp is nothing compared to sushi simons. The waitresses provide great service and knowledge of the menu. I highly recommend sushi Simon. more

I am in the business and will be honest. \r Its a small well decorated and set up sushi place. no liquor just beer and sake. Located in one of the parking lots of a nice Boynton beach close to the Bethesda Hospital. Server was very nice and at first seemed to be very knowledgeable. She was correct about sushi being an organic product and some of the things like uni and Toro (blue fin and Big eye Tuna) are wild. Most of the fish is Local ? hmmmm. Overall she was sweet and great at her job and would love for ther to play for my team. Food: Rolls are way over priced $25 for eight peices of scraped spicy tuna and imitation California rolls under some avocado and paper frozen ebi. ( hey boys a little prep goes a long way!! boil some shrimp and wash it with ginger juice!!!) Rice was cooked and seasoned perfect. I was not to crazy about canned lobster meat and tons of Japanese mayo on the plate. More kitchen food would be a bigger plus. Overall liked it, but if i had a choice to spend $150 for 3 rolls and 2 small plates ( and few Sapporo's) i would choose something with a better view, larger menu choices and a full bar. The Blue Fish or Japango. Overall, liked the place but will never come back fo spend that kind of money for a great conversation with a server or a prety decor. I go to the restaurants to eat ausome food, everything else is just an illusion. more
