Yes, it's expensive, weird neighborhood, smallish space, bossy chef, no cell phones, etc. But it's the best sushi in Honolulu. Yes, you can go to Yohei for ""good"" sushi and ...

Good: Emphasis on quality, and cell phones forbidden. Bad: Surprisingly Arrogant wait staff. Improvements: Service first! Restaurants arent just about food.. Other: As soon as I entered I was struck by the large placard warning that they “reserve the right to refuse service to anyone”. The sign was prominent, and should have been my queue to leave. The person that seated us as well as our waiter, were both impersonal, and refractory to any greetings. They were in fact robotic and cold. During the meal they never inquired as to whether we liked the food, and in fact issued very curt orders on when it was appropriate to use the soy sauce. Frankly, I felt offended by. more

Sasabune - Clever Sushi Man 3/30/2006

Sushi Sasabune's "theme" is that you cannot order anything - diners need to be able to "trust" the sushi chef and he will decide what to serve you from the freshest fish available on that day. This is a very clever marketing scheme, one which allows him to make a healthy profit. What he does is fill you up with cheaper varieties of seafood first. If you're full after three to five orders, then he makes a profit. He brings out the more expensive varieties after you've consumed several orders and he's ensured his profit. Please note, that the sushi is good, but if you are looking for specific types of sushi (toro, ikura, etc.) you won't be served it till the very end. This has prevented me from going there when I just want a small snack. more
