Great food & atmosphere!! 6/26/2008

Sushi Oaks ROCKS!!! I have been going there for the past ten years. It's hard to think that the place has been there for that long but it really has (and that's just how long I've known of it). From the beginning the place set itself apart with its yummy Miso Soup and big portions. I have never deviated from my standard Chicken Teriyaki dinner w/ California Roll. When they came out with the spicy version, I was hooked! I live in Agoura Hills and we have a couple of really good places locally, but my family and I will travel all the way to Newbury Park just to enjoy Sushi Oaks. It's a special treat.\r \r I've also seen that a couple of the workers have been there for at least as long as I've known about the place so it must be a good place to work as well. Not sure why they're closed on Mondays but then I don't argue with what works. If I ever leave CA or Sushi Oaks closes, it will be a sad day in our household! Pros: Delicious Food! Cons: A bit small; have to get there early on Fri/Sat to beat the heavy crowds more

Best Miso Soup Ever 11/30/2005

Order the Miso Soup spicy and they add freshly sliced jalapenos and thinly sliced lemon. The resulting taste is fresh and intriguing. Topped off with bits of crunchy tempura batter, this soup is fun in the mouth! Our favorite roll is the Red Dragon: cool creamy crab surrounds a hot crunchy tempura green bean -all wrapped in nori - layered on top is spicy tuna, avocado, flying fish eggs and minced scallion. YUM! Pros: creative rolls, neighorhood feel, friendly servers more

Get Off My Mushu 8/27/2002

Looking for a place to eat with your girlfriend or boyfriend? Or maybe you are planning on conducting a business meeting with friends. If you want the best Japanese Restaurant atmosphere, the only place to turn to is none other than Sushi Oaks. Upon entering the restaurant, all five senses are immedately tantalized. Sound: You hear the wonderful chopping of seafood and sushi preparation. Sight: You see the wonderful array of colors and texture of the food. Smell: The pungent smell of Saki enters the nose in amazement. Touch: The rice sticks to your fingers as you pop in the first morsel of sushi. Taste: Last but not least you are overcome by a countless number of flavors only making you wish you had ordered more. more

Sushi Lovers 8/27/2002

This place is very sophisticated. It may be a small place but, the food is great. If you are a sushi lover, this is the place to get some! This is also a place for romantic dates. It might not be a place for kids, but for teenagers (like myself), can be a great prom place! I top this resturant on my list! Pros: great sushi, great atmosphere Cons: small more

Sushi Oaks on a roll!! 8/8/2002

You have to be starving before you get there, because not only the food is inexpensive and delicious but they serve pretty good portions. Pretty much an adult atmosphere. For those who are not really sushi eaters, try the Lobster Rolls or the Pink Cadillac (Salmon Roll). These sushi rolls are really cooked. Guaranteed you love it!!! The Best Kept Secret Sushi Restaurant in Ventura County!!! Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly, Great food!!!! Cons: Crowded, Small, Not open on Sundays more

to the point 6/11/2002

Sushi Oaks is a great place for simple, fresh and delicious sushi. Their fish is fresh, and the prices, standard/average. The service is great, and the atmoshpere is casual. It is small, and there is often a wait, but all in good reputation. It is well worth it for a casual dinner for sushi lovers. The menu is not very extensive, however. I would recommend the Mcguire Roll, Lobster roll, and olypic roll. Their halibut, hamache and sake nigiri are always great. more
