Just off Hwy 1 as you head into Pacifica, south of SF, and well worth the trip out of the city. Their talented Japanese chef brings new spins on sushi with unexpected signature dishes such as their ""Firecracker"" platter. A feast for the eyes as well as the mouth.
My regular choice is the Beef with Ponzu sauce entree. The ponzu is authentic to central Japanese-style, with shallots, shiso, onions, and grated daikon radish. No bottled stuff here. Beef is sublimely cooked to perfection, halted with an ice water dip, and quickly brought to your table where it melts in the mouth.
This restaurant is full of housemade delectables I haven't found on other Bay Area Japanese restaurant menus.
What better way to round out an evening than an early dinner at Sushi Koko, followed by a stroll on the Pacifica Promenade to watch the sun sinking into the Pacific.
Pros: good parking, clean, excellent service
