Sushi Haru has lost its touch. This had been OUR sushi restaurant for the past 3 years but after our visit yesterday, we will not return. This is the second visit that we were disappointed. Has it changed hands? There are certainly different people manning the sushi bar.\r

The service was aweful. Not only did the wait person screw up our order, but he brought the sushi and appetizers all at the same time. By the time the hot appetizers were consumed, the hand rolls were soggy and unedible. Whats worse, the young guy who was serving us kept trying to upsell us to fancy rolls that we didn't want. We have eaten at this place close to 20 times in the past 3 years and we know what we like. But even our favorites were disappointing. Even the Edemame (boiled soybeans) were cold, undercooked and the serving size was so small that it looked sad on the plate.\r

The basics weren't even right. The sushi rice was underseasoned and soggy/sticky, so much so that we could hardly swallow them without the lubrication of a drink. The portions of fish were also thin and smaller than their former standard. The fish tasted old. An hour after we left the restaurant, my wife was afflicted with Hiroshima's Revenge (her system is an early warning system for bad food). \r

Oh, and they have increased their prices. Two shrimp nigiri, one of the cheapest sushi selections, is now $5 for 2 pieces. For Kansas city, this is unreasonable.\r

We are both angry and sad that OUR sushi place has lost it's mojo. We will not return but will be searching for alternatives in a land where the freshest fish has whiskers and comes from ""the crick"".\r
