BUMMER!! 9/27/2002

I took the train with my two young children from St. Paul MN, a ride of more than 22 hours. My sister was meeting us in Whitefish, and made a reservation for a suite; she even went out of her way to arrive before 6 p.m., and found that THEY HAD GIVEN OUR ROOM AWAY!!!!! Apparently, a party of 5 walked in off the street - without a reservation - so they decided to just give them the suite. It leaves you wondering what is the point of making a reservation?? The desk clerk was completely apathetic, the room was small, and my sister (bless her) had to sleep on a creepy, uncomfortable rollaway. The only good thing I can say is that the room was clean. more

  • In Short
The first Super 8 opened in Aberdeen, S.D., in 1974, charging $8.88 a night. Today, the national franchise, with its familiar red-and-yellow sign, still stands for dependable rooms at wallet-friendly prices. A staple for road-tripping families, truck drivers and tour groups, the motel offers complimentary morning coffee and continental breakfasts. Another perk for travelers: Super 8 travel cups may be refilled for free at any of the motel's locations.
