A service call to check my garbage disposal took 15 minutes. They suggested that I need a new unit (which I already knew). Their lowest price for a garbage disposal was 2-3X what you can buy yourself for a cheaper baseline model (they obviously also charge installation, hence, $3-400 total would have been the cost). However, if you wanted an ""upper-end"" disposal, then this may still seem reasonable at this point (and probably is). \r

Accordingly, I mentioned that I was going to by a cheaper unit, and they replied they would be willing to install it (which was $150 – average installation, albeit on the high end). Still no issues yet.\r
\r
Then came the service charge: 15 minutes = $65.00 (for saying “you need a new unit”). That equates to $260/hr. Unreasonable. \r

Whatever happened to customer service? Hint to Sunset - when you throw customers a break for a quick call - they will call you back. I guess it's all about volume in this economy. \r
\r
In sum, my fault - I should have called for a quote over the phone.\r

Nice commission sunset. \r
