Granted they have some stuff that you cannot find at big box stores, but you wouldn't think that the employee there would be EXACTLY like the big box stores. If you are willing to pay much more and get a service with the attitude just because you ask them to load bags of dirt to your car, then go here. I would rather pay less without any services at the big box stores. Pros: Hard to find stuff. Cons: Services with attitude! more

Can't beat this place for pond supplies. Their pond specialist (can't remeber his name) was very knowledgeable and nice. He helped me get my backyard pond started and shared helpful tips, answered a beginners dumb questions, etc. As for the rest of the staff, I have to wonder if there's a store policy banning courtesy. I used to shop there regularly, but can't recall ever being greeted with a smile or a friendly hello. Overall, worth checking out though. I love this spot- beautiful healthy plants that will survive coming home to your place and long after. ( I don't know how many Home Depot plants withered within days of leaving the store) but more importantly- helpful staff! Well, at least one guy there, named Alan, is a genius when it comes to plants. He knows EVERYTHING and is more than willing to patiently share with you. He saved me many a bad decision, like picking a plant I thought was pretty but wouldn't survive in the conditions I had for it. He also helped me with info you can't find on the little sticker- like the plant blooms year around, or will die out for 3 months in the winter but grow back, if you move this plant even a couple feet after it's been settled it will get angry and drop it's leaves, etc etc. My boyfriend would like to add ""Yeah Com'n"" to Alan! The prices are maybe higher than other bulk stores, but the quality and the expertise will save you money in the long run! Enjoy! more

With the help of the nice folks at Sunset Nursery, I actually kept a plant alive. I even grew a lawn from scratch, and it looked great. It grew. It was amazing. I am the kind of person who can't even keep a cactus alive, so this is really a feat. more
