Sunset Academy

A thumbs up for the director and staff of Sunset Academy. It is a caring, loving , educational environment for children. I am in many child care centers on a regular basis and I see quality coming from this center. I see team effort and dedication as they all work to give the children the care they need and deserve. more

We love Sunset! I work down the street and I stop in several times a day to feed my baby in the Cubs room - they have no idea when I'm coming, and I can tell you every time I'm there the atmosphere is awesome (it's not like the can prepare for my visit). The staff is so attentive and the babies seem so happy. Sure there's crying, but that's what babies do - but no matter what, they're truly nutured at Sunset - my husband and I feel really secure leaving our precious little one there each day. It helps with the "ache" knowing he's somewhere so great. more

Both of my kids have been going to Sunset since the were 12 weeks old. From the infant care all the way to private kindergarten, my kids have thrived under the loving and caring watch of all of the teachers and staff at Sunset. Not only do they spend time developing children emotionally, educationally and physically (with lots and lots of outside play!) they also work very hard to offer school-wide special events throughout the year. From Easter Egg Hunts (with nearly 1,000 eggs!) to a great Halloween celebration - and of course a full Christmas Pageant - Sunset Academy has been great for my kids and for my husband and me - I can't imagine them anywhere else. more

Sunset Academy has great staff members who love and care about the children in the facility. On the other hand the director is not so loving and caring maybe to the children but the staff is a different story. There are the few selected that get greated every morning and the others that never. Which make that staff very uncomfotable and not so happy to come to work. The director spys through the celing with a baby monitor on her staff without them knowing for a while. On the other hand the food at sunset is horrible most of the kids there never want to eat it. The carpets at sunset academy have not been cleaned in over a year the place is pretty dirty may not look as it is but it is. I would never take my child to this center beacause of these reasons. And i am not an angree staff member or parent i just think that this should be known. more

This is the best child care center around! The teachers are wonderful. The director is very caring (and is always looking out for the children's best interest) Obviously, parents or previous employees who are angry about something can write whatever they want to discredit this facility and it's director, but if you want a place where your child is educated and truly cared for, and the staff and director are working together to make sure that happens, then Sunset Academy is the place for you! more

My children attended Sunset for over six years. Overall, the facility is a good and safe facility. The teachers care about the children and work to positively influence their development. While the director of the facility cares for the children greatly, she has a track record of handling contentious situations very badly. Consequently, I have seen several qualified and capable staff members leave the facility. I have also spoke with many parents who removed their children from Sunset because they were offended by how the director set and communicated policies. I would have to agree that management and communication of policies that pertain to and involve parents are handled poorly at times. If you're thick-skinned and don't mind the director questioning your parenting, you'll be just fine. more

WOW!! This facility has ruined every other child care establishment in my book. I wouldn't dream of ever taking my children anywhere else! I toured a large number of places when I moved here, and this one was definitely the best. My children love the staff, activities and the "feel" of Sunset, and on days that we don't go, they beg to go back to "school". I am very impressed with everything overall, and look forward to having my children there for as long as I can. Great job guys!! (and thank you) more

Sunset Academy has a very loving environment. The staff could not be better their hard work and determination to make the lives of these kids great is absolutely amazing. The activities that are done in this center really cover all of the children?s developmental needs. The nutritious meals that are served every day really help to keep the children happy full and focused. The love and care that these people give to our children is incredible. None of it would be possible without the outstanding love and support of the director. She really goes above and beyond to make sure that not only all of the children are taken care of and safe, but to make sure that all of her staff are taken care of as well. I highly recommend taking your children there. more

Though this childcare center has many loving staff members, the current director of this center makes unwise choices in hiring new staff. For example, she hired a cook with multiple domestic violence charges on his records (which is unlawful in the childcare business), she does not check the transcripts and references of applicants being considered for hire.
