Excellent Childcare, with a staff that really cares 5/9/2011

My name is Tom Pittard and my son Tyler has attended Sunbrook for over two years. I have NEVER written a review before on this site but two things have encouraged me to do so: 1. My son is getting ready to graduate from Pre K in late May and I have had time to reflect over the last two years of his time at Sunbrook and 2. The absolute ABSURD negative reviews written by what is obviously either a disgruntled ex employee, or more likely, a competitor trying to get a competitive advantage the only way they can: by a bold face lie. If you notice the negative reviews were all entered in the same time frame. Further, if you talked to other parents at the school, which the staff would be happy for you to do, you will find out that the claims written are total fabrication. In Feb. of 2009 I looked for a childcare facility to take care of my then 3 year old son. I'm a single parent, and further my son is Type 1 DIabetic. I called 18 facilities in the Woodstock/Roswell/Marietta area and was told ""no"" by all 18 due to my son's diabetes. When I walked into Sunbrook and advised I was looking for Childcare for a diabetic 3 year old I totally expected to be told ""no"" again. Instead I was asked questions about his needs and after I answered some Type 1 Diabetes questions they said they would be happy to watch him. Over the next several months I was at Sunbrook a lot to help train them in diabetes care and got the chance to REALLY get to know the staff. I can say without hesitation that the staff and owner of Sunbrook really care about the kids they watch. I know because of how they take care of my son, and how they treat other kids when I'm there. They aren't obligated by law to watch a Diabetic child, and they aren't the type place to just take a child to collect tuition. They really do care about their kids! Over the last two years the staff has taken voluntary training on Diabetes care, and even formed a JDRF Walk team on their own for the Diabetes fundraising walk last year. I'm so blessed to have found Johnny Bowers(the owner of Sunbrook), Ivonne, Joy, and ALL of the teachers and staff that have been apart of my son's care over the last two years. They haven given me the gift of peace of mind that my son is in good hands when I can't be there, and they have given my son the gift of an excellent educational experience that will prepare him for Kindergarden next year. Further, because they decided to take care of him, Ty has been able to build his social skills as well and play with other kids, instead of having to be taken care of by a private nanny with no other kids around. Ty will be going off to Kindergarden next year but will be back at Sunbrook for an after school program. My cell phone number is 404-539-0519. Feel free to call me, I would be more than happy to discuss Sunbrook's level of excellence with anyone looking for a safe, educational place for their child. more

My 1.5 son did not like it at all! 10/2/2009

I had to take my 16-month-old son for 4 weeks over there. I thought I will drop him off for couple hours on the first day. When I called later to find out how he was, was told that he was doing great and loving it in there, so I let my guard down and he stayed there for about 4 hours. Picked him up and found out that he was crying the whole time and fell asleep exhausted from crying. Any time I called to ask how my son was doing, I would always get “he is doing great”, which was not true because when I came to pick him up, the teachers would tell me that he would break out and cry often during the day. Second week into going there he would cry as soon as I strapped him into the car seat. There were 2 permanent teachers and they were both were very nice, but there were times that they both were gone at the same time and there would be 2 completely different people and it does not help to small children to feel secure and comfortable. It was very hard for both of us, especially for my son; he was used to being at home with my mom and having 2 adults per 12-16 toddlers is just not enough. All children, had runny noses; mine after being there for 2 weeks also had it under his nose all the time too. If I knew what I know now, I would not have taken my son to this place, but the reviews were mostly good and I thought I will try. They are not equipped to have online access to the see you child during the day. Pros: It was not too expensive Cons: My child fif not get proper care more
