Sunborn Stables has a long tradition of providing excellent riding lessons and horse training. Julie Penshorn, lead teacher and trainer, has over 35 years of experience. She started with Western reining and roping and in 1977 changed her focus to eventing and dressage. These two Olympic disciplines are taught in a fascinating way by Julie and Sunborn Stables' three other teachers. Julie is a United States Dressage Federation Certified Instructor/Trainer, and has been approved by the United States Eventing Association. She is one of a very select few who have the USDF certification (currently two in a five-state area). At Sunborn Stables, lessons range from private to small groups, the usual size being just three people. With all the individual attention and the focus on detailed explanations and demonstrations, students progress quickly and, if they choose to show, they succeed. The website details many of our horse show successes. Sunborn offers three or four in-barn shows each year so students can gain experience, learn from others, and set and meet their goals. Sunborn also provides high quality concentrate and hay/grass to boarded horses. Boarders can choose stall, private paddock or group boarding options
