Truly professional instruction from toddlers to adults 2/18/2013

My daughter has been dancing at Summers since she was a toddler. Over the years, her love for dancing has increased, and a large part of that is simply that she loves being at Summers. The staff is amazing and is like an extended family, and the friends she has made are wonderful. It is rare to find a group of children who, instead of competing with each other, encourage each other and are proud of their friends' accomplishments. While good parenting obviously is a huge part of it, the studio deserves credit as well for fostering an atmosphere where every child feels like a Star. If you want a studio that will not only train your child but will help them gain confidence in life, Summers is the place to be. more

Quality, Authentic Ballet Experience for Tiny Dancers 10/19/2006

I enrolled my 2 yr old daughter with their baby ballet class this fall. At the first class my daughter had separation anxiety and seemed afraid of the studio environment. The owner encouraged me to try a different day and participate until my daughter adapted. I participated in the next 2 classes with my daughter and by her 4th class she was able to follow along and enjoy herself without me in the room. After looking into other local choices, I preferred this studio because they have a classical approach yet are still tailored for very young dancers. All the teachers are kind with the little ones. I am thoroughly enjoying seeing my daughter dance, learn to follow instruction and learn discipline in a creative environment. The costs of the lessons are very reasonable. They have progressive classes for every age and level from 18 months through adult. I would recommend this studio but also recommend that you give it time before you form an opinion, if you have a toddler. more

Reasonably priced, but... 8/16/2005

Summers Academy of Dance is a reasonably priced dance studio with classes offered in tap, ballet, jazz, and hip hop for ages 18 mos to adult. The teachers there are very friendly and good at keeping their students engaged in the lesson. Parents are able to watch the classes through a window in each of the two studios. My only problem is with the owner of the studio. When I pulled my toddler child for personal reasons, she was very condescending towards me and questioned my parenting skills. This was very unprofessional and I can no longer recommend this studio to anyone even though I loved the teachers there. more

    Summers Academy of Dance also has three resident performing companies, Berkshire Ballet Theatre, Starr Dancers, and the Summer Dance Competition Team. Professional dancers can inquire about the Berkshire Ballet Theatre and our preparatory students should ask about the Starr Dancers, and we offer the Summer Dance Competition Team for our contemporary dancers interested in a variety of styles like Hip-Hop and Lyrical dances.
