used to like it better when younger 11/15/2005

Now it may be because I am getting old (I am 30 now) but this just isn't the same as it used to be. I enjoy a good time, drinking a beer here and there and enjoying music but this is just full of drunken hicks lately. Either that or young teenie boppers looking for "fun". It just wasn't my style and the price to get inside is getting more and more every year. The do have a few great band playing every year, they need a few good ones to pull in revenue though because otherwise I am not sure how they get money to continue this sha-bang year after year. BoDeans are always a good show, but I skip summerfest completely and go straight for the concert istelf. more

Tons of music, tons of drunk, tons of fights!!! 10/24/2005

I've been going to Summerfest since I was just a knee high child and to be honest I have very fond memories. Yes, everything smells like beer... everywhere, but it's a great place to hang out in the summer, listen to some music, and watch some drunk fist fight. Keep in mind it is usually pretty laiud back during the day but as the night comes it can get a little tougher. I also think that the music for the past few years has been pretty pathetic and not really up to par with what the festival used to draw. With that being said you can still head down, eat some food, have a good time. more

Tons of entertainment! 10/17/2005

Every year we have visited Summerfest, we have never been disappointed. It's an amazing experience that you won't want to miss if you truly want to see the culture of Milwaukee. There are tons of opportunities to listen to great music, many entertaining shows or demonstrations, and of course, the food is something that always tastes great. During the day, it's a kid friendly place. Not so much in the evening/night. Definitely recommend taking the bus down instead of driving all the way there. more

Worlds largest musical festival 8/15/2005

Right around the 4th of July every year the world music community comes to Milwaukee's lake front for summerfest. This 10 day festival is the highlight of the summer. It contains numerous musical acts on over 7 stages, food from all corners of the globe, crafts reaching further, and more beer than Miller can keep up with. Fun for the kid of all ages. more

  • Overview
Henry W. Maier Lakefront Festival Park, along Milwaukee's Lake Michigan shoreline, is the place to be in Brew City during the summer. With 80-plus acres of trees, eateries and performance stages hollering for attention, the reggae fans, wind sprinters and bratwurst eaters barely notice each other.

    The Experience
Every year, Summerfest attracts almost a million guests who come to hear international musical talent, including rock-and-roll, hip-hop and doo-wop acts. The grounds also host a series of festivals celebrating Irish, German, Hispanic, Italian, Asian, Polish, Native American and Middle Eastern culture. Summerfest's Marcus Amphitheater hosts popular bands such as the Foo Fighters, No Doubt, Santana, Kiss, the Bodeans and Sting.
