I no longer live in Hilo, but it's the place for nostalgic eating. You'll find dishes not found in Chinese buffet chains (kalua pork and cabbage, truly crispy roast pork, sweet and sour spare ribs). Hawaii-style Chinese food is not for everyone, but if the long lines that snake out of the place during lunch is any indication it's truly a local favorite. On rainy Hilo days, expect a short wait due to high demand for their wonton noodle soups. The Leung's run this place with an eye toward giving the customer good value for their money. You can walk out with a loaded ""plate lunch"" for under $6. My favorites: lemon chicken, the mushroom chicken with baby corn and their crispy ""cake noodles"". The decor is practical more than comfy. Counter service is friendly and fast, but not everyone speaks English perfectly. It's still worth it!
