Last time we ate at Sultan Grill it was because we had a coupon in the mail and figured we would give it another chance. It had been months since our previous visits. When it first opened it was great. Still pricey. Not after new ownership its gone down the tubes. First off, our meal was awkward as the owner/manager seemed to be having a fight with his female employee. Arguing off and on our whole meal!
The chicken Shawarma sandwich was ridiculous. cheap chicken meat with little flavor... lacking that great flavor one can always count on from middle eastern restaurant. It was in dry packaged flat bread with a little overly crunchy too close to the core pieces of ice berg lettuce on it! What?!!
The garlic dip and hummus were good. But who screws that up right? We got the meat platter and veggie platter and they cut the portions in half from our last visit! Literally in half! Much like Royal Thai next door, this place is like a bad knockoff of the other restaurants in town serving up this ethnicity of food.
To top it off, the owner applied our buy one get one free coupon towards the cheapest side dish on the menu that we ordered rather than one of the three $13 entrees we got! Then would not adjust it after we pointed out the error. Wow. If the lackluster food was not enough to keep us away, this was.
We are much happier driving to Ya Hala or one of the more authentic and tastier restaurants closer to south Denver or Colorado Blvd. Sultan is off our list of options for good.
Someone please open something good to eat in West Arvada besides Chipotle! Seriously!
Pros: only food from middle east in Arvada
Cons: Over priced, small portions, low grade quality, poor service
