Prior to coming here I thought that La Thai was the real deal! They really have the total package! The atmosphere is second to none and the food is very authentic. The ingredients are super fresh and the flavor is incredible! I have had the Pad Thai, Red & Green Curry, Drunken Noodles! All the soups are very rich and savory but light and refreshing at the same time! They don't have a selection of desserts but I assure you that you will leave here satisfied! The wine selection is extensive! The music is just right, and like I said, the atmosphere makes everything flow! more

The atmosphere and food are incredible. The whole fried fish and scallops are awesome, and the drunken noodles are great too. Great selection at the full service bar too. Never a disappointment more

I love Thai, and Sukho Thai is one of my go-to spots (although i prefer the marigny location). I've never been unsatisfied with the food, and my experience with the service has been great. My last visit has earned Sukho Thai my undying loyalty, in that they graciously accommodated my liquid, only-if-it-fits-through-a-straw diet while my jaw was wired shut. The server didn't hesitate accepting the challenge of blending the tom kha gai, and was super nice about it. And it was delicious (especially when you're on a liquid diet, you need some new flavors in your life). So, thank you, Sukho Thai! more

So, I have ordered to-go from Sukho Thai quite a few times in the past, but never dined in until a few nights ago. The food and beverage choices are always great. I have had the red curry, green curry, pad thai, drunken noodle, and as of a few days ago, the kaffir lime curry. All of them are top notch. more

I really enjoy eating here. The waitstaff sometimes has much to be desired, but the food is always good. This past time I ordered the cashew chicken and the broth was just delicious. Will be back! more

I get the Red Curry every single time I go and it's amazing. My girlfriend gets the Drunken Noodles and she loves it. Brought friends there, they had the Pad Thai and something else I cannot remember but they also loved the place. more

Sublime Thai Food ....Addictive 7/28/2010

Over the years, Sukho Thai has proven to be the finest Thai restaurant in the city. In fact, it's better than most Thai food I have eaten anywhere else in the US. They stick to the most traditional preparation of Thai cuisine, and that's all I can ask for. Pros: So many wonderful Flavors Cons: Hard to find more

My favorite Thai restaurant 1/14/2009

I love the ambience of this restaurant. I feel very relaxed and comfortable. The staff were always very nice, friendly, and helpful. I always see people I know there and everybody seems to have a good time, especially big parties that bring lots of bottles of wine like me:) I always go there before I join my friends on Frenchmen Street. I love grilled fish green curry with roti. I love the whole fish, I think it is the best whole fish I have ever had. Tom Kha is always the best here, especially on a cold day. The coconut soup just gives you a soothing feeling. I think Sukhothai has a great Tea lists. Don't miss Dragon Pearl Jasmine Tea. The aroma is amazing. Go check it out. You'll love it too. Pros: cool ambience, great food Cons: parking can be difficult to find more

Fantastic Thai! 1/7/2009

I can't get enough of this place. If you have lived in major cities with a lot of Thai restaurants and you know Thai cuisine, you'll be disappointed by most Thai restaurants in New Orleans. Sukho is head and shoulders above the rest. The menu has a great variety of dishes, the atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and the staff are friendly. The seafood dishes are some of my favorite. The whole snapper over three flavor sauce is awesome. I even saw a couple taking a picture with one of those one night :) The lime steamed fish, pineapple seafood curry, and curried softshell crab are also best bets. The Broken Net soup has a aroma and a mix of herbs and spices in a combination seafood soup that I find myself craving time and again. Their Pad Thai is right on, and ther have a unique take on Drunken Noodles that's richer than most Thai restaurants. There are a couple of dishes with peanut sauce that I don't care for, but there so many great things to choose. Bring a bottle of wine and enjoy the night because they don't have alcohol. And be careful of the Thai hot! That's too hot for me and most anyone I know. Enjoy! Pros: Savor the spices... Cons: Sometimes you have to wait for a table more

Great Service. Bad Food 11/13/2008

Just finished eating dinner at Sukho Thai. I was so disappointed with the food I felt that I should write this review while the bitter taste was still in my mouth. Had the Ahi Tuna appetizer which was incredibly bland. Their Thai Iced Tea was mucus-thick. Ordered the Waterfall Beef for an entree. Could only stomach two bites. It had an overwhelming chemical flavor to it. On the bright side the service was fantastic and our waitress was kind enough to take the entree off of our bill. If you are looking for good Thai food in New Orleans this is not the place. Try Bangkok Thai in the River Bend instead. Pros: Good Service Cons: Awful Food more

Disappointing. 11/11/2008

Maybe this is just Thai food from a different region than we're used to-- but we've eaten Thai a lot, and I also lived in Thailand for a month. This was pretty much the worst Thai food my husband and I have had. I'm sorry to say this about a place that is otherwise so nice. The ambience is very cool, and the service was good-- relatively quick and a friendly waitress.. Pros: ambience Cons: Food, food, food more

Poor, poor service 8/11/2008

My sister and I went to Sukhothai to find a great Thai place in New Orleans. We arrived and waited 10 minutes to be seated, which clearly indicated a seemingly understaffed restaurant since there were only five other tables filled. However, we still gave it a chance. We wanted to eat good thai food! more

Real Thai food for Real People 7/28/2008

I love it so much that I want to go there at least 2-3 times a week. I'm from Bangkok Thailand just moved here to attend Tulane University. I was disappointed with La Thai and Basil Leaf with their unauthentic food but yet too expensive. Then, I found Sukho Thai when I went out with my new friends to Marigny area. I love it. I was so happy to find an authentic Thai restaurant here in New Orleans which I almost feel like eating my mom's cooking. I had Broken Net Soup and Dirty Noodle. It was a wonderful meal. My friends had Drunken Noodle, Pad Thai, Glass Noodle Spicy Salad. They also, loved their dishes. We finished with Black Rice Pudding. It was so great to discover Sukho Thai. It's really make me feel like home with the real Thai food and friendly atmosphere. Especially, they don't use MSG like other Asian restaurants. I just love it so much. I went back about 4 times in last 2 weeks. Next time I will try their vegetarian dish and I will let you all know again. Pros: Authetic Thai food, with fresh ingredients and friendly atmosphere Cons: Very busy on Friday and Saturday night. more

Disgusting! 5/28/2008

See that this restaurant hasn't been reviewed in a while. Found out why tonight. Lemon Grass Soup (so bad I threw it down the garbage disposal - WAS there any Lemon Grass in it?) along with the Chicken Satay (flat pieces of soury tasting ""mystery meat"" with cheaply made bottled sauce -- also down the disposal) ordered for dinner tonight because I was sick and craving Lemon Grass Soup and Satay for comfort. Pros: None that I've found. Cons: Rude service staff (except delivery boy who was well tipped). MORON owner. more

Best Thai Food Around 4/21/2008

Sukho Thai is just off the beaten path. It is definitely the best Thai around. We have taken several trips to the New Orleans and each time we make sure to drop in for some Cashew Chicken and Drunken Noodles. Pair your meal with one of the many green or white exotic teas. Cons: No air conditioning?? more
