I ordered our wedding cake a month in advance and paid for it in full. This bakery is one of the most expensive. Because it is a nonprofit organization and the bakery we have been going to for years we wanted them to make our wedding cake. We requested to pick up our $400.00 wedding cake two days before our wedding. We were told the cake would be ready at 9am but that we could pick up cake any time during the business hours. My fiance, now my husband, went to pick up the cake at 4 pm. He was told the cake person called in sick and they were behind on orders but that they were putting the finishing touches on our cake. One hour later they came out with our cake. The cake was supposed to be white, it was ivory, lopsided like a leaning tower, not smooth, layers were not centered, design was not uniform and looked sloppy, frosting looked like it was put on a warm cake and melted, there were crumbs in frosting and fingerprints. The cake platter we rented for $12 was nothing more than a piece of cardboard with fancy foil on it. Then they tried to tell him that we still owed on the cake which I had already paid. They knew that the cake had to travel 2 hours but still placed cake on a tray with no support or protection. The next day we got up at 6am traveled the 2 hours back with the cake. We were refunded our money immediately. The manager told us that our ticket was not pulled accidentally. The cake person decided to put our cake together in 1 hour and try to pass it off. Look I realize that mistakes happen. If the cake person had come out and explained what happened and guaranteed to get the cake to us on our wedding day we would have been annoyed but understanding. Instead my wedding cake that I paid a lot of money for was done in an hour and done poorly. I was lucky and found someone else to make my wedding cake. I highly encourage anyone considering this bakery for a wedding cake to look somewhere else.
Cons: Our wedding cake looked hideous!
