I have been taking my dogs to Sugar House Vet since 1990. They are truly the best. My scottie, Mac, knew and trusted Dr. Barton and Michelle and Tracy the most. He was a very sick dog with cushings disease, diabetes, and eventual blindness. They were so loving and concerned about his well being every time he visited. Mac's situation was unusual, but we found a way to make his life great for several years. We were all sad when it was time to give Mac the ultimate gift of love and they were there to help me with that process. \r \r We have two beautiful westies now and we all love "the girls." My Abby was diagnosed several years ago with "white shaker syndrome" - a very rare neurological disorder. Dr. Barton researched the syndrome tirelessly until he found some answers. She responded amazingly and has very few visable symptoms. Abby now also has Addisons disease. She takes steroids daily with peanut butter, her favorite treat. My room mate and I took our new cat in to get spade. After the surgery they wanted us to buy all kinds of pain reliever medications at an extra expense. \r The cost of the surgery was very expensive compared to other Vets we had gone to previously. When we told the vet tech that we did not know if we needed more pain relief for our cat or not, and we asked why they had not discussed this with us before the procedure. He got upset with us and asked if we care about our animal or not.\r Very rude and uncaring. \r Not a veterinarian we would recommend to anyone! more

Sugarhouse is, without doubt the best I have found -- the others I have tried do not compare. The doctors and the staff are caring and gentle with the pets and equally caring and gentle with anxious pet owners. The staff behave in a calm, professional manner. The doctors are thorough and informative. Now that I have discovered Sugarhouse Vet, I will never take my dogs anywhere else. Way to go Sugarhouse! You are the best! more

Dr. Barton was amazing with my kitty until the day she died. He either answered the phone when I called or called me back within the hour. He never spoke of her as a cat, either. He always asked how "our kid" or "our girl" is doing. The day she passed (she had a brain tumor) he sincerely offered his condolences. For those of you whom had a bad experience, I am sorry for your loss. Dr. Barton is an amazing vet and I won't take my other cats to anyone else! more

I adopted a redbone coonhound and took her to Sugar House. They treated me well, and seemed very knowledgeable when I asked a thousand questions. Very clean and professional. I recommend them for their quality and interest in my pet's health. more

LOVE Dr. Barton. I took my puppy to two separate veterinarians before she was diagnosed with palidoma (an apparently very common condition). He also prescribed the correct dosage, where the other vets expressed they had "never seen" her condition before. Dr. Barton has been a great and compassionate vet since, as well as for the other three families I know who bring their pets to Sugar House Veterinary Hospital. All other staff seem excited and caring when I bring my Labrador for her check-ups. more

I cannot speak for the other vets but Dr. Barton was an angel guiding us through a particularly difficult time with our 15 year old Lab. He correctly diagnosed bladder cancer on the first visit, helped us keep tests and medical expenses to a minimum, helped us emotionally sort out a very complex situation and greatly improved Gordie's quality of life for the few months he had remaining. We have shared our experiences with several friends who it turns out have used Dr. Barton as well. Everyone agrees that he is simply the most compassionate vet to whom we've ever taken our dogs. The staff was helpful and always found a way to see us on short notice when either of our dogs needed help. We highly recommend! more

Very bad experience here! Took my sick cat and they could tell me nothing.... wanted to run test after test but STILL could not tell me what was wrong! I ended up spending over $400.00 on lab work w/o a diagnosis or any type of healing. The vet was brusque and impersonal, did not seem to care about my cat or my feelings. I cannot recommend Sugar House Vets and would caution anyone to go elsewhere ! ! ! more
