High-Quality Boneless white breast meat...not mystery meat like at most places! 10/2/2008

I feel compelled to mention this restaurant and their delicious food after eating here both under the old management and the new. Chef Kiran is very friendly and takes the time to pop out of the kitchen to greet and thank patrons. It's nice to know such a caring person is making your meal! Briefly, and as something of a Triangle food snob, I simply say that the ingredients used are fresh and real (not sure how local, but we can ask Chef Kiran to work towards that!). To me, that is the most important thing. As a result, this modest Indian cafe is able to cash-in on Chef Kiran's expertise with awesome dishes like Chicken Chettinaadu, Chicken Mongol (special request), and of course the usual Vindaloo's and tikka masala's. Every dish we've had has been well above-average, and I'll include all the breads ("Na'an"), the Chicken hot and sour soup with fresh cilantro, and the Mango Lasse too! My 3-year old even loves the place and the staff has been very accomodating. Try the buffet for lunch because it is all-you-can-eat and there is a wide selection including desserts. I hope they continue to modernize the interior, but the decor has really come along way since Chef K took over...neat artwork on the walls is a good touch. Maybe they should ditch the flat screen tv's though? For wine lovers, they are improving their selections, but have been fair to me when I brought my own bottle. I used to drive to Saffron in West Cary until finding this place. No need to go back to Saffron again, though their food is decent. But not nearly as good as Suchi. If Suchi keeps getting more and more known, hopefully they can move to nicer digs. Pros: Quality of ingredients; variety; special requests; fair corkage fee Cons: Ambiance; poor wine list more

Best Indian Food in The Triangle-- Great Buffet 9/29/2008

Two of us had the wonderful experience of dining at the Suchi "Grand Buffet" Saturday (Sept 28, 2008) evening. It was the best-tasting Indian food that either of has enjoyed in the area in the 10 years that we have been here. And we have tried 8 or more of the area Indian restaurant's buffets. The food is attractively presented-- it looks great! The variety of dishes offered was impressive-- they even had fish and shrimp. I did not count the number of dishes available, but I think it could have been 20 or more, plus 3 rices, 4 desserts, papadum, and nann --plus salad and relishes. The range of spices was a pleasant surprise. At many buffets everything is very hot. But at Suchi, some dishes are mild, some are medium, and some are hot. Whatever your preference, there are several choices. There are common dishes, and there are dishes that are clearly the original creation of master chef Kiran Kumar. The traditional spinach and cheese (paneer ...) was the smoothest and most pleasant I have ever eaten. Then there were tasty vegetableballs, which look like meatballs, in sauce, that were a great blend of vegetable flavors and delicate spices. There was a mashed chicken item that looked like a red sausage. It was baked in their Tandoori oven. A real treat. There are so many interesting and tasty dishes, and we plan to go back soon. The restaurant is very clean, and the service is pleasant. It's a friendly staff that tries hard. I cannot offer any negative comments. In the few months that they have been open (new management, new chef-- and he's a great one!), they certainly have created a fine restaurant. I think it will become a magnet for those who really like quality Indian cuisine. Pros: Great chef, many choices, great range of food/tastes, nice ambience & service more

Excellent food ... friendly service 9/12/2008

I went back to Suchi last friday after staying away a long time. I had not had a good experience with the earlier management but had heard about the owenership change and wanted to give it a try. My experience was overwhelmingly positive. There was a lot of variety in the food, particularly for non-vegetarians. There were at least 5 different chicken dishes. I sampled all the chicken dishes and was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed each one and every dish had its own distinctive flavor. The chicken biryani in particular was excellent. The vegetarian dishes were very good too and the gulab jamun was the best that I have had in this area. Chef Kiran and the wait staff were attentive and made sure that we had hot nan available. I took my family back the following Sunday for the grand buffet. They had put up Indian artwork on the walls and it really added to the ambiance. The grand buffet had a lot of variety. There were 5 chicken dishes, a goat curry and tava fish. The tava fish was outstanding -- its the best that I have had in a long time. There were more vegetarian options as well. My wife enjoyed the eggplant rice. The mango mousse rounded off a great meal. We will definitely be going back to Suchi regularly. The food was excellent and Chef Kiran and his staff provided friendly service. Note for SAS employees -- Chef Kiran has offered a 10% discount for SAS employees -- just show your badge. Pros: Quality of Food / Variety / Friendly Service more

Best Indian Cuisine in Cary 9/12/2008

My family and I always enjoy eating at Suchi. The food is great and offers a wide variety of Indian Cuisine. Chef Kiran is a master in the kitchen. In addition to offering mouth watering dishes from many regions of India, Chef Kiran likes to experiment (successfully) with fusion dishes, integrating other asian cuisines with traditional Indian dishes. The results are fantastic. The last time we were in for lunch, we noticed a wide array of Indian adorning the walls. Much of this art is for sale. It adds some nice ambiance. My family and I will continue to frequent this restaurant because it is the best Indian Cuisine in the area. Hats off to Chef Kiran. We're glad he left Washington DC to come and run this restaurant. Pros: Ambiance, great food, fusion cuisine more

Kid Friendly... don't believe everything you read 9/5/2008

I was shocked to read the other review on this page. There were two tables with children sitting near me at lunch today at this restuarant.. The management was very attentive with booster seats and high chairs. The food was delicious. Did the other reviewer expected that the kids would get to eat for free? The mangement was more than generous with refills of drinks and nan (bread), and the nan was delicious! Pros: Delicious food, good variety, friendly staff more

ABSOLUTE WORST: FOOD, SERVICE, HOSPITALITY, VALUE 8/21/2008

This past Sunday (Aug 17, 2008), my wife and I along with our 3-yr old son and a 2-month infant went to the Suchi restaurant. As we got to the restaurant, we had noticed the "Under New Management" sign. We knew the person who had previously owned the restaurant (we happened to like the old owner due to his willingness to make sure that each and every customer got the special attention during the visit). I thought that since the restaurant has a new owner, the food and the service should be excellent as is the case with any new business that's trying to establish itself. We proceeded to check out the buffet. We were a bit disappointment from the "presentation" standpoint. Some of the buffet items were almost empty and other items looked "un-appetizing". We decided not to go by looks since we've always had GREAT prior experience at Suchi. My wife grabbed a plate and I grabbed two (2nd plate for the 3-yr old). Regular nans were brought to our table. I asked if we could get garlic nan. *** I was told that Garlic Nan was NOT part of the buffet and that there would be extra charge for it, if we still wanted it. In the past (w/ previous owner), we always got the garlic nan (esp. when we asked). Next, they had only brought ONE nan for us (2 adults + 1 kid). I asked for another Nan. Ten minutes later I had to ask again for the Nan. Finally, we got our second nan. The delivery of the Nan was as if we had asked for something we shouldn't have. ** The food, in my opinion was SO-SO at best. However, my wife thought that the food was NOT Fresh. She actually thought that the food might have been left-over from the previous night **. Finally, when I got the check, I noticed that they had charged $6.99 for the buffet for our 3-yr old. I inquired about the buffet and I was told that their policy is to charge 1/2 price for buffet for kids/infants from the age of 1 (ONE) to 5 (FIVE). I was shocked to hear that. Food: TWO STAR | Service:ONE STAR | Overall:ONE STAR Pros: None Cons: Below-average food, Terrible service more

Excellent Food and Service! 8/13/2008

My husband, our three children and I went to Suchi for the lunch buffet this past Monday and were astounded with the variety of food. My husband is a vegetarian and he found enough variety; my children and I are not and found more than enough dishes to please all of our non-vegetarian tastes! The chef brought out the Naan personall, came over to talk with us and ask us how we were doing. Very good! I can't wait to check out a dinner buffet. I think it is a little bit pricey, especially for the children. However, it is well worth it! Pros: Excellent Tastes, Variety, Customer Service Cons: A Little Pricey - especially for lunch. more

The worst Customer Service! 7/29/2008

I am very disappointed with the service at Suchi's in Cary. My colleagues and I went to this restaurant to conduct a business meeting and an African American woman came in with her son to use their public restroom. The owner of the company told her that tchild could not use the restroom. The kid was around 6 years old. "Yeah, heart less!" He did finally allow the child to use the restroom , then he made them exit out the back door. I asked him why did the exit out the backdoor after there was many huge signs posted stating "Please Use The Other Door", it seems as though he unlocked the back door so she and her child could exit their facility. He stated that's how they needed to leave. We will not recommend anyone to this restaurant ever again. Dear Owner, we are trying to end racism, Try It! Cons: Level of Service was terrible! more

Incredible Indian Food!!! 7/22/2008

The food and service were incredible! Myself, my wife and our two children, ages 4 and 2, went there during lunch hours on a Sunday. Not having been to an Indian restaurant in NC we were surprised to see that it was a buffet style lunch, and as we found out many other Indian restaurants also did a buffet style lunch. At first we had some hesitation but after the first serving to the buffet our minds were completely changed. The quality and flavor were fenomenal! The food was fantastic and without the excessive amount of oil sometimes found in some Indian dishes. The gentleman who appeared to be either the owner or manager took the time to explain the different foods at the buffet and also went out of his way to accomodate the kids by bringing out something called "Masala Duce" which was a potato based mix wrapped in a fine rice pancake. It was delicious! We commented on the quality of Chef Kirankumar's food and later met him personally. He showed us his kitchen and demonstrated how he made the Naan bread and the Masala Duce: this was an experience in itself. We could tell that he takes great pride in his work and righfully so for someone who has served the Prime Minister of India. To wrap this up and for a final point, we live about an hour away from this restaurant and there are others which are closer, but we will go the extra distance just to have the opportunity to eat there again. Looking forward to the next meal and can't wait to see what the dinner will be like. Pros: Delicious Food, Great Service, Excellent Value! Cons: None more
