Big Surf is one of the water amusement parks located near Tempe. Another location near Tempe is Goldland/Sunsplash in Mesa. I am mostly comparing Big Surf to Sunsplash. Sunsplash is much bigger than Big Surf for just about the same cost. There are some water slides but as I mentioned there are more at Sunsplash. The prices on food here at Sunsplash in my opinion are on the higher end and the quality of what you pay for is so-so. Their pizza is much like pizza that you get at pizza parlors that are known for their ticket games. One of the coolest things about Big Surf is their water walkways. From each attraction there is a small thin stream of water that you can walk on to help keep your feet cool during the HOT summer months. While this location is smaller than SunSplash-Mesa I suppose it is more geared for the younger kids in the family. The waterslides are NOT as "thrilling" as those at Sunsplash. However for the younger kids, such as those elementary aged, i don't think what Big Surf has to offer them is better than what Sunsplash has to offer. I do think that Sunsplash offers more things for elementary kids to do. If the price of their food wasn't as steep I would give them a 4 star. BUT becuase of the price of the food I'm giving them 3 stars. more

Big surf is a great place to cool off in the sunny heat of arizona. Price is a little steep, I belive around 20 bucks a person, plus it cost more to rent a tube, but for an entire day of fun its worth it. I really enjoy the tidal wave pool. And the slides are great too. Its a safe enviroment. There are tons of lifegaurds on duty so there is never any trouble. Snack bar is decent.. but pricey.. and if you stay all day you will need to eat! more

Its kid friendly and offers rides and water fun for all age groups. The bIg wave ride is especially funa nd one of its kind. The water slides have several levels of difficulty and best part is that they have special wading area for tiny tots. more

The oldest waterpark in Arizona but still very popular. They have it really organized with lots of lifeguards and other staff on hand. The wave pool is a blast but be careful of getting scraped on th bottom. It's worth renting a tube for the day for the rides and the wave pool. Also keep an eye out for coupons at local grocery stores! more

This is such a fun place to be, with all the different water attractions. It's wonderful in the summer, when everybody is so hot, and that water just feels so great! Everything is run very smoothly, and I don't remember there ever being a breakdown of a ride. Sometimes, though, the prices of the food can get you angry. It's crazy expensive. more

This place is really fun, even for adults. The wave pool is great (although often crowded) and their slides are decent. There are a few downfalls though - admission is very high ($21 per person), you have to pay extra for EVERYTHING - tube rentals, locker rental, etc. and the food and drink prices are VERY high. Otherwise this place is great to go on a weekend with friends or your kids. The lines for the slides usually go pretty quickly, too. Easy to find as well. more

Feel like getting out of the heat? This place is so much fun. It is a big pool with waves every few minutes or so. You can rent a boogie board, and hang out in the wave pool waiting for a wave to come by. The wave is not like a typical wave in the ocean, but it is still pretty cool for Tempe, AZ! You actually feel like you are at the ocean. They also have water slides at the park that are a lot of fun. Prices are pretty good. You can buy a summer pass at the beginning of the season, which is a great deal! The park gets busy in the summer, so plan on coming early to get a good seat by the water. They have a restaurant there with great prices, and tasty food. The park is easy to find. It is located just North of the 202 right off of McClintock Rd. more
