Let me start by saying I am an event planner and I have been a server. I had never been to Stumps until last night, but I am from Texas and a huge home cooking fan. My BF ordered the Brunswick Stew, the grilled tilapia and requested no red peppers (as was specified on the menu). I ordered the steak with green beans and collard greens. The Brunswick stew might as well have been canned tomatoes in a bowl. Our server ran around as if he were busy and we heard the hostess tell someone there was a 20 min. wait, but the place was empty and she could have sat them at one of the tables she pulled together for us for no reason. Our entrees finally came (about a 30 min. wait). The fish was in one word disgusting - no flavor, and they served it with green peppers (good thing he wasn?t allergic). I ordered my steak medium rare, it might as well have come directly from the freezer. It was the toughest piece of meat I have ever had - my jaw literally hurt after a few bites. We didn't even touch our sides, the green beans were canned and cold and my collard greens tasted like nothing more than wet cardboard. Our server was at our table twice the entire night. He noticed we were displeased, but never once asked us how our meals were or if we ever needed anything. Our bill, including a tip (I have been a server, so I know it isn?t entirely his fault) came out to be a ridiculous $42.00 for something I would not have even fed a Yankee.
Pros: A fun place at night for drinks/entertainment.
Cons: Food was tasteless.
