The very best salon in Tidewater. I tried the expensive and high class places in Norfolk but they were just that. If you want professional service, excellent atmosphere, highly trained staff, no attitudes, and a caring group of people, then you have to go to Studio East. Always something going on and the entire shop is very civic minded and sponsoring charitable events. You feel right at home when you first walk in. No one is a stranger. Ms Ann is the best!! Don't you guys be afraid to join me there. I feel comfortable with any of the stylist on staff there, but Kim is my normal. Hair cut, moustach and beard trim, neck trim, and if you are lucky a little neck massage with the hot towell. Can't be beat. I took my grand daughters there for their first haircut and it was great. Jennifer greets the customer at the front desk with sweet professionality, makes appointments, and generally keeps comings and goings smooth. The stylist (in my case, Lisa) asks if her customer would like a beverage, then, seats her for consultation, solicits likes and dislikes, previous problems with hair, makes suggestions as to possible cut, color, up-keep and products. Shes makes suggestions that steer customer away from unrealistic choices. Each stylist whom I've observed does an amazing job of coloring and styling. Hair is treated with great care; customer with courtesy and patience, sometimes with necessary humor! And, the customer leaves feeling beautiful. There is abundant evidence of on-going education of staff both in-house and away. Lisa is also amazing at waxing and tinting brows, and painless arm waxing. The salon is immaculate. This is the best beauty salon. The owner has been doing my hair for 8 years now and does a fantastic job! She saved it from years of overbleaching by me. I've been going to the owner of Studio East for more than 15 years! She is by far the best person in town to get foils or color from. She also has a fabulous staff. There is no turn off in her salon. The owner send's all of the hairstylist to various cities including New York to train with some of the best stylist. The Spa is also wonderful and very casual. I can't imagine going anywhere else. I travel a lot so when I am in a new city the hardest part is finding a reliable hairdresser. We found Studio East online. I was greeted with a friendly hand shake and offered a drink. Jamie who did my hair was amazing. She saved my hair from the disaster the hairdresser at a previous salon had destroyed! My hair color is gorgeous and the cut is perfect. I am so impressed with how friendly, professional and knowledgable the ladies are at Studio East. Studio East is the most incredible place to go. I love going there because everyone is always so happy and you feel right at home. They are always traveling to shows and classes and then they play back their pictures on a screen so we can see what they did. So cool. I found them on yelp last year and I am a regular every 4 weeks for color and toes! Oh yeah they have a big parking lot so I don't have to circle around downtown trying to find a place to park. I just moved to Norfolk and I am very particular about who cuts and colors my curly hair. I found Studio East and I thought it was a wonderful salon! Very friendly staff, very skilled stylist, Jamie, who spent a lot of time talking about what I wanted and what would look good on me before she started cutting. Prices are right on their website and I even got a 15% discount for being a new customer! I went back last week for highlights and they are the best I have had in years. Its a great salon! Well after going through 3 different salons since moving here from Alexandria, I have finally found a salon that knows how to do haircolor! I did not realize that not all salons are certified colorist. The owner of Studio East is one of the only certified colorist in the Hampton Roads area. She did not do my hair Lisa did, but she trains everyone who works there and they all seem like they know techniques I have never seen before at any other salon. They are easy to get to and you get something to drink and a FREE hand dip in warm wax then they wrap your hands w/mittens and you then get a Free hand massage. this salon has a group of happy, fun and talented people servicing your needs. from the minute you walk through the door and sue's mom, ms anne, dips your hands in a warm peach parrafin dip. to the hand picked music of the hour. they seem to make you feel right at home and no one is rushing you through your appointment. even when you check out you feel like part of the family. they do everything from hair, skin, nails and waxing.
