Julia's Pilates Is Amazing! 11/14/2008

Wellness is all well and good, but results are even better! Private sessions with Julia have strengthened and slimmed my core, flattened my tummy, toned my arms and sculpted my thighs. It's hard work. But, Julia is an expert and patient teacher, providing encouragement and enthusiasm. Julia's Pilates has become part of my wellness regimine. Even better: I fit into my skinny jeans! \r \r Take the 34 Trolley to 45th & Baltimore and have a class or session with Julia. Your body will thank you! Pros: Expert instruction, affordable, SEPTA accessible Cons: None. more

Awesome, affordable Pilates! 10/29/2008

A great lofty space in West Philadelphia, right off the 34 Trolley line! So easy to get to and super friendly staff. Started taking Pilates, with instructor Julia, at Studio 34 when they first opened and won't go anywhere else! Julia is an extremely perceptive and talented instructor. She knows what areas I need to work on before I even tell her. I've had a few lovely private Pilates sessions on the new equipment with Julia as well. Studio 34 has all new Pilates equipment, a spacious common room with teas and reading material, and offer great community art events. Plus, $5 Pilates classes on Tuesdays and Fridays (you can't beat that)! I love this place!! more

Best AND Most Affordable Pilates in Philadelphia 10/28/2008

Studio 34 is one of Philly's true treasures. Tucked away in a quaint but hip section of West Philly, it offers a wide variety of affordable wellness services and cultural arts. The space is funky and inviting and everyone who walks in is made to feel welcome. The studios are spacious and immaculately clean. \r \r The Pilates classes and individual lessons provided by Julia are, from my experience, not only the best in the city but the most affordable (because she practices on the principle that wellness should be accessible to everyone). She is a patient, knowledgeable, and fun teacher who loves what she does and shares that passion with her students. Whether you are just starting out or a Pilates veteran, you would be remiss if you did not give Studio 34 a try. Pros: Affordable, easy parking, great teacher, very comfy mats, classes around the clock! Cons: I genuinely cannot think of any more

A lucky find! 10/27/2008

I had seen another pilates instructor who was worries about working with me because of my injuries (knee surgery/foot surgery). She referred me to Julia, because of her attention and capabilities of working with individuals with special needs. I have been working with Julia for a few months now, and couldn't ask for a more personable and experienced pilates instructor. Rather than than see my injuries as an obstacle, Julia designs a program for me that I can do and walk out of sessions with her feeling well worked out, and in no pain (other than the good kind). The reformer is great for all body types and capabilities and really works wth you at your level. This is the first time that I have ever had a one-on-one training session with someone, and I have been spoiled. Even long after my injuries are healed I hope to work with her!! more

Great pilates! 10/26/2008

Studio 34 is great for pilates! Julia is a fantastic instructor. She's very knowledgeable and makes sure you're doing poses correctly. And at $10, classes are affordable, too. Julia also offers private sessions on pilates equipment, which is great for rehabbing injuries and stretching and strengthening different parts of the body. \r \r I've found pilates to be very beneficial for running - by strengthening my core muscles, my balance has improved and I feel stronger while running. Pilates has also helped my yoga practice- having a stronger core lets me take poses deeper and hold them longer.\r \r Studio 34 is a pretty cool pace, too. Lots of interesting art and just a cool vibe. Highly recommended. more
