Do not shop here. 1/31/2012

The owner of the shop is very mean, accused me of being a thief, verbally harrassed me, swore at me, and called me obsene things. (see my comment on this) unfortunately i cant tell the whole story in the ammount of space given, but oh well. more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE. Buyers beware: This store frequently purchases extremely used textbooks from Amazon and attempts to resell them at 3-4 times the online price. Please do yourself a favor and simply buy your textbooks online. These people are clearly con artists. more

Unlike Gibsons they dont allow a 24 hour grace period after the last day to return books and the sales people are rude. more

Best Book Store at MSU 12/22/2005

The Student Book Store is hands down the best place to go for books at Michigan State. They have the biggest selection of used books and professors often choose to only sell the coursepacks here. The employees are very helpful and there are also many checkout registers which is a huge plus during fall book rush. Also, they have a very wide selection of non-book merchandise. more

Always bought my books here 11/16/2005

Back in the day, this is where I always bought my school (college) supplies. First time I made a mistake (newbie!) and used the campus bookstore. From then on, tho, it was SBS. Fast forward a few years and I'm back for grad school, and wowza! SBS is huge! Tons of books, supplies, and MSU clothing to choose from. Get any bigger and they will take up the whole block. Oh, they validate parking, too. more

An East Lansing Classic 11/10/2005

The Student Book Store, or "SBS" as it is known to all Michigan State Students, is conveniently located directly across from Campus along Grand River Avenue. It carries a huge selection of text books, as well as MSU apparel and other logo items. During the beginning and end of the semesters, this place is JAM PACKED with students .. but not to worry, they open like 50 check-out lines to keep things moving. And to draw students in, they give away free pizza during peak times of the year. SBS is fantastic, just be ready to brave the crowds if you're going to first, or last week of the semester. PROS: Everything you'll ever need for college ... except the beer. CONS: more

SBS does not make me think. 11/4/2005

I like the fact that SBS is big and has lots of different items to buy. I don't like the fact that it is so ridiculously expensive. There is nothing that I find particularly great about them. It's fun to browse through their stuff, but it's really not worth buying. I'd recommend going to half.com, because even though it's not as fast, you save a lot more money. more

I buy text books there. 11/2/2005

Yes you can find quite a few cheap books in online book stores like Amazon and buy.com, but you can find everything you need for a semester's courses here in student book store in less than 10 minutes, instead of wasting hours comparing prices online. If you plan early you can find used book quite cheap. Besides, there are more stuff than books in SBS. PROS: good for textbook shopping CONS: n/a more

TONS OF STUFF!! 11/2/2005

This place is huge! They have a large selection of MSU appearal and gear. They also offer the biggest selection of books for that hard to find text book! There usually are big lines, but they move quickly because they are always staffed well. The staff is very knowledgeable and can always help you find books. I like this store because of the organization. You wont find it anywhere else. They make finding text books painless. more

Some pros and cons. 9/20/2005

For a bookstore its not bad, however I think that if your buying your textbooks at this store you should reconsider. There are incredibly expensive and you should trying buying them online at places like capusi.com. However its not a bad bookstore but for textbooks the prices are horrendus. PROS: Wide selection of books. CONS: Prices are very high. Try buying online. more

The Student Book Store (SBS) is probably the most popular of the bookstores that serves Michigan State University students. It has a prime location right on Grand River Ave. (the main strip) and is right across the street from the campus. They have a wide variety of college apparel and a good selection of textbooks. more

Good selection and best looking store 9/9/2005

The Student Book Store was always my favorite MSU book store. They didn't always have the best price, so I'd usually spread my purchases around to other bookstores, too, but they had the nicest store with the best organized shelves of books. SBS also carries a great selection of MSU spirit items and school supplies. I still recommend shopping around for your textbooks, but I think the Student Book Store is worth a visit. more

My son shopped here for all the books he needed for college. It is a very nice store with a ton of books. They also carry some office and art supplies. They carry a lot of Michigan State items also. I have gone in there to purchase Christmas gifts for him. Their prices are very reasonable. I would recommend shopping at the Student Book Store. more

worst bookstore 9/4/2005

This is the worst bookstore at michigan state univeristy. This is the bookstore that is right on grand river, across the street from the northern most part of campus. The bookstore is the most expensive in town. Even more expensive than the MSU run one. They also rip you off when you try to sell books back to this place. I highly reccomend going elsewhere! more

This is a really good student book store. They have history books, academic books for the University and the city college, posters, office supplies, school supplies, sweatshirts, everything a college student could desire! They have plenty of employees so lines are never really long. Prices are...what can you expect for academic books? more

MSU's Student Book Store 4/26/2005

This is the "true" MSU book store, though there are several located throughout the city. \r \r They carry a good selection of text books as well as a small selection of school/office supplies.\r \r They also have a large selection of MSU apparel - mens, women's and children's. Its not always the cheapest, but it won't break the budget. They also carry hats, pins, stationary, umbrellas, mugs, etc.\r \r They have a small upstairs area with greeting cards - not the best selection.\r \r The store can be accessed from Grand River Ave or from the back alley (totally safe). They have no parking lot, but the nearest parking lot is the orange and blue located behind Grand Ave - usually they will validate your parking if you bring in the stub. more
