The Strand Theatre, a noted landmark on the historic Marietta Square in Cobb County, got its start as a major motion picture house in 1935. The Strand provided movie entertainment to thousands of people of all ages until it closed its doors as a movie house in 1976. The 1935 Strand, the last remaining historic theatre in Cobb County, lights up the Marietta Square and provides a venue for films, live entertainment, and corporate and private events. The classic theatre with Art Deco flair is available to arts organizations for performances of many varieties. Business organizations and individuals also enjoy the use of the 500+ seat auditorium.
