Less $$ than buying on campus 9/22/2005

When I attended SUNY StonyBrook, I always went to Stony Books for all of my textbooks. Located right near the Stony Brook LIRR station and across from the college campus - it's within walking distance from the campus dormitories as well for those college students without a car. Their prices were reasonable and definitely less expensive than the university bookstore. Staff was very knowledgeable and are able to help you find what you need quickly. It can get crowded come the start of a semester, but you'll definitely get a better deal. They also do book buybacks at the end of the semester, so you can get some of your money back. I highly recommend Stony Books. more

Stony Books Inc 8/19/2005

I went to this bookstore for some books that I needed for school and found the experience to be very good. Going here proved to be a much better option than going to my school bookstore in that the prices were much better and the lines were seemingly much shorter during the initial bookstore rush that comes when school starts back up. more

Get books for class cheaper 8/19/2005

This place is good for buying used books, since the price is a lot cheaper than the campus book store. They also buy books back as well. They usually have a good stock of books, but don't wait until the last minute to get what you need. I would also suggest to call in advance to see if they carry the books you need for your class, since they do not carry every book. more

A better option than the SB University Bookstore. 8/9/2005

I am a student at Stony Brook University, and when I don't want to empty my bank account, I go to Stony Books. Stony Books is located on NY 25A, North Country Rd., across from the Stony Brook train station. The staff is knowledgable and consulted by Stony Brook faculty. They are a much better choice than the University Bookstore, which is quite expensive. more
